The Calm Coloring Book: Beautiful images to soothe your cares away (Volume 14) (Chartwell Coloring Books, 14) Paperback – July 8, 2015

What a lovely coloring book for anyone to enjoy and relax as long as you wish! There is so much variety - some designs are simple, some ornate, but all are original and beautifully drawn for any medium you want to use to color them. I personally enjoy fine-tipped markers, but with my markers, I also place several sheets of paper (I use typing paper) under the page I'm coloring so there won't be any "bleed-thru" from the markers. The pages aren't perforated, so I remove mine carefully with a sharp file. One could also place a large heavy book over the pages you want to color and in a few hours the book flattens well and the images are easy to color, especially since the designs aren't crammed up against the inside margin. The artwork is just outstanding, and varies in style so that someone of any age can find something to please them! These are indeed frame-able pictures with high quality paper, and I plan to color several pages and give them as gifts over the next few weeks. And after I've colored in this beautiful book for awhile, I can't believe how truly calm and relaxed I feel - a real joy besides just the joy of coloring. I'll be getting another copy to share with my grandchildren!

Beautiful illustrations. I bought 2: one for my mom, one for a friend who is in recovery a few states away right now (a stressful process that can be anxiety-inducing, boring, scary, uncomfortable, and miserable all at once), along with some Prismacolors (these: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core Colored Pencil, Set of 23 Assorted Manga Colors (1774800) and these: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core Colored Pencil, Set of 24 Assorted Colors (3597T). I think I sent the "Manga" set of Prismacolors to my friend, and the regular set to my mom.The pictures are very pretty and non-hokey. It does not feel like a children's product, and if you include a higher-quality colored pencil like Prismacolors (as opposed to Crayola colored pencils, which are fine and dandy for most people, but Prismacolor steps it up quite a bit). A good gift for an adult, especially an open-minded one.Not sure if my mom liked it or what, but honestly, it would probably do her good to spend a few hours in the meditative act of coloring. She's tightly wound and hard to shop for. I also sent her this book, because we both love the Art Nouveau style: Dover Creative Haven Art Nouveau Animal Designs Coloring Book (Adult Coloring), and I sent both my friend and my mom this book, which also has a narrative (and a sequel!): The Time Garden: A Magical Journey and Coloring Book (Time Series)

This is not my first adult coloring book and I am sure it wont be my last. I enjoy taking the time out of my day to color and this book is one of the ones I use regularly. I have enough of them that I have yet to complete a book so it is nice to have the ability to switch between books. This book is not bad at all. There are some very pretty pictures in the book which of course is helpful. I prefer to have pretty images to color so I am very particular to when it comes to which images I plan on coloring. There are a lot of details with these images and if done right these images can turn out very nice. I have used markers, gel pens, and colored pencils in this book so far and it seems that gel pens do work the best for coloring but it is easier to blend with colored pencils. Overall there are a number of very nice ,images in this book and the images are detail heavy.

I've been purchasing lots of coloring books for adults lately -- this is one of the nicest I've received thus far. There is a huge assortment of designs, ranging from simple and abstract to intricate and spectacular. Some pages will appeal to folks wanting simplicity and other pages will appeal to those wanting to focus intently for hours. There are some whimsical pages in an illustration style, and there are some pages in a grand scenery/landscape style. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with this coloring book. Very nice and wouldn't hesitate to purchase multiple copies again!Editing review to add: pages are printed on nice, thicker paper. I did not have issues with bleed-through (I use Ultra Fine Sharpies mostly). Pages are not perforated. I didn't have any difficulties removing pages from the book - they separated from the binding fairly easily and cleanly.

My mother suffered a light stroke and after being dynamic, active and full of vigor, it was hard to watch her sit and stare with little interest in talking because her memory left her confused and frustrated. She has always enjoyed coloring with the grands, but we felt it would be insulting to offer her juvenile coloring books. We saw others that were much more expensive, but this had good reviews, so we bought it and found a small set of colored pencils for her to use. She was so excited and her work was beautiful. It made me cry to see how well she had done. This alone, was worth any price. And it did her good to hear the praises about her good work. The book is well made and the perforated pages make it easy to remove individual pages. This is a keeper!

I have an 'Enchanted Forest' coloring book, but sometimes I want something different. I love Enchanted Forest, but all of the drawings are very detailed and 'finicky', and I wanted something different just to mix things up. This coloring book was just the thing! It has great variety from patterns to pictures, 'finicky' to 'open', some have shading, some do not. I am not a fan of the 'cartoony' pictures like is shown on the cover, but there is very little of that in the book. If you are wanting variety, this is perfect! I only use colored pencils, so I can't comment on the bleed through of the paper, but it is nice and white so the colors are true.

Love this coloring book - so relaxing to sit and color something that takes more thought than a children's coloring book. The pictures are beautiful. Use your imagination and get beautiful results. I started with colored pencils but now I like to use markers too for brilliant colors.

The book is lovely however the packaging cardboard sticky is stuck to the back of the book and this had spoilt it

This book is lovely!! My whole family is enjoying it. It has a nice mixture of patterns, birds, flowers fish and scenes. Some of the books stick to one subject but this one is the best. I will be buying it for my sister's birthday also.
