Man of the World: Anthology

There is a reason that BB King said of Peter Green "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard."
Peter Greene is an amazing artist, guitar skills with depth in the lyrics. He writes Americana before we knew what it was, literally defining the style that all others follow in his foot steps. This album is a wonderful collection of his works and fills out a comprehensive build of his best work.

bad sound
The songs are very nice but the sound is awful, too much signal level, big bass and meddi distorsions, onle few songs sound good, but generally Arista never make a cd to sound very good. I am very dissapointed about the sound for this reason is only 2 stars from my opinion, maybe my cooments will be deleted because I tell the truth here

This is a great collection of his best work post-Fleetwood Mac
This is a great collection of his best work post-Fleetwood Mac. Although I had some old FM vinyl from the PG era, I did not become big fan until hearing some old FM live recently. They were much better and intense live than in the studio. This collection has 2 of the best examples: Black Magic Women and Jumping at Shadows.Several of the post-FM songs would have been stand-outs on any PG-era FM album: Baby When the Sun Goes Down, Apostle and Big Boy Now; which starts off with a party vibe but is really a song of regret with a sharp, stinging guitar solo.I debated rating this a 4 or 5, and decided that my favorite "FM Live in Boston" was the only 5, due to the great contributions of Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer on additional guitars.

If you are looking to add a studio anthology of Peter Green to your collection then this is very representative of early work
There are a few collections of Peter Green's early years, and this is a great one. In terms of quality and songs represented I do not think you can go wrong with this album. I am guessing without the benefit of reading the other reviews on this album that one criticism could be that it is on the mellower side, but how many copies of a rowdy rattle snake shake does one need in their collection? Truth is there are never enough. This guy was a legend, and even though I likely own way too much of his music - well there is a reason why, because I can listen to his stuff all day. In all a great collection of his work, and one to own, So if you were on the fence about it- then I hope to persuade you to get off the fence and go and get this. BTW there is another young British player that is out there now and being correctly compared to P.G. and E.C. and that is a fantastic group to be in the company of - a guy by the name of Matt Schofield who may be as close as I get to seeing a young Peter Green live. So remember that name and see him if you possibly can because they are cut from the same cloth - at least that is what I think. MD

A great overfew of early Peter Green
These discs are a great way to be introduced to the wonderful world of Peter Green. Peter was a founding member of Fleetwood when they were a blues guitar drivin band. It does have some great Fleetwood Mac what is nice about this album it is mix of Peter's music jumping around the dates, it is blended very nicely. If you like great guitar playing then this is for you. Peter is a very fluid guitar player with a lot of good taste. There is a wonderful verzion of Peter's Black Magic Woman. If you do like this also pick up Fleetwood Mac's Then Play On which you can find on Amazon..

nice version of his better songs
I liked the songs but they were not in chronological order. I guess it was easier to put on two cds that way.

Stamped in time for all to enjoy for ever
To listen to this collection is to really enjoy his depth and talent. God only knows what happened in those early years to effect his creativity and growth as a truely gifted individual.

The Green Magician
Peter Green, original member of Fleetwood Mac.....well, he was the Magic Man during his time in Fleetwood Mac. To me, the Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was the best period of Fleetwood Mac. This 2cd set shows the magic when he was the absolute most important musician in FM, but also this set shows Peter Green is one of the better white blues musicians. Listen to this great 2cd set to learn Peter Green. If you are a fan of the original Fleetwood Mac, listen to Peter Green (Spinter Group) and you will absolutely enjoy yourself!

The Sweetest Guitar
That was a comment made by a famous musician about Peter Green. When you are listening to not so good music on the radio, I put this CD on and I am lost in the sound of this lovely talented man.
