Robust, Comfort Tool Rest, 6" Wide, Long Post

Robust tool rests are the best! The hardened round rod at the top does not ding like many tool rests, the do not flex - even on hard catches... just a pleasure to use. One caveat - the length of the post has to be matched to the lathe and banjo (tool rest holder). There is much information on the Robust website that will help ensure you order the correct profile and post length to accommodate your lathe. If the post is too long, it will prevent moving the banjo into many positions because the post will extend out the bottom and hit the lathe bed. If the post is too short, the retention and strength will be compromised.

Robust makes the best tool rests I've ever used. The small steel bar across the top is hard and smooth and easy to maintain, and there is plenty of room for my knuckles in the "comfort" part.I got this to replace a simple tool rest I had that was just a round steel bar on top of a round steel post. That one was solid. But I tend to do detailed cuts underhand, and when my hand went past the post on that one, my front knuckle would hit the post and cause a ridge on my work piece. This one puts the actual tool rest portion an inch or two in front of the post, and leaves ample room for your hand to slide along without hitting anything. Just make sure to get the right one for your lathe, and I'm quite certain this thing will last me my whole life.

It's OK. Does not go all the way down in tool rest like original that came with my Laguna 1216 midi lathe. Its 1 inch in diameter but needs to seat about another 1/2 inch lower in too rest which unfortunately it does not.

Very nice tool rest. I have been using a 13” that came with my Jet lathe. Turns out there are plenty of situations where the long rest becomes the problem. I put this Robust 6” on the lathe when it arrived and haven’t used the longer rest since (about 2 months now). The qualify work of who ever made this rest is really good.

Very well made and the hardened bar on the top is great. Tools slide smoothly and easily across the hardened steel bar. Made a great replacement for my factory supplied rest.

The reviews and descriptions of this tool rest was exactly what I was looking for. I wish I could have given it 5 stars, but it was "delayed" in transit after being checked in and out of hubs. Then nothing.
