What is great about this book is that it provides legal understanding from a business perspective. It not only covers the critical basics of patent law, but also looks at the roles of those involved, the elements at play, and the overall landscape in an intuitive and easy to understand set of popular game metaphors.The way that the book covers the potential strategies really allows you to see your best approach as it relates to your specific business scenario. As an entrepreneur it makes the whole process less daunting and overwhelming by distilling the possibilities down into simple and digestible bites. Not an easy task. I found the real world examples as they relate to each strategy particularly helpful. The book assists the business owner in finding a realistic and actionable approach that they can take to their IP attorney.The Patent Game will help me and my consulting clients feel more confident in discussing what we consider protectable intellectual property. I can see it working for teams in larger organizations as well as startups seeking investment. (Also knowing the important role that patents can play in the sale of a business.)The book has been designed so that you can quickly target key scenarios and accompanying strategies quickly without having to read the entire book. It focuses on business and the author has really taken the time to understand his audience and the pressures they face while making discoveries that can help us all. I highly recommend this book as one to keep near your desk or favorite brainstorming whiteboard/napkin.

As a licensed/registered patent attorney, and a boardgame enthusiast, I found the strategies and analogies in here to be very informative.There is discussion of surface level patent law and deadlines, but also advanced business strategies to maximize return on investment for patents - and as anyone who has much experience with patents knows they are an investment $$$.I have no shame in promoting this book - which is written by another patent attorney - as the strategies, successes, and despairs disclosed in “The Patent Game” improve outcome for my clients by virtue of my reading this book and learning from them.10/10 One of the best patent law and business supplements I have read.

Patents are one of those areas that entrepreneurs just don't know what to do with. Some have spent tens of thousands of dollars only come up with nothing. Others have have told to not worry about them, only to see their invention used by someone else and they can't do anything about it.
