Seems like it works, not for sure…

The fish oils smell rancid. I have never encountered a product this strong in taste and odor. I did not check the return/exchange policy on this item. It is not returnable and not exchangeable. I cannot recommend ordering this product

I am middle aged. My eye doctor said I have some "early macular degeneration" in my left eye. He told me to get on Areds as soon as I could. I was lucky in a sense, because my partner has the same condition, and was already taking the Areds 2. So I got on it the same day I was diagnosed.It's been over a year, and my condition has not changed. Macular degeneration is progressive, and gets worse over time. This vitamin formula, with the fish oil, is designed to slow the progression of the disorder. It works as advertised. No question about it.

I got some bad news from my ophthalmologist last year. I have dry age-related macular degeneration. Fortunately, he found it early because I have examinations on a regular basis. Unfortunately, there is no cure for AMD.Part of me is skeptical of the AREDS studies. Like, how much did the pharmaceutical industry invest in the studies? They're published on the NIH website, but that doesn't mean someone didn't have a dog in the hunt. Nevertheless, I followed my ophthalmologist's instructions, which were to take AREDS 2 supplements.I've used Viteyes with and without the Omega-3. I decided to stick with the formula with added Omega-3 because I live in Ohio. The fish full of Omega-3 fatty acids do not live anywhere near here, and can only be had in a can, and not cheap!This product isn't cheap, either. I'm not due yet for my next exam, but I've been taking the supplements over 6 months. I find them entirely tolerable. The capsules are very large, but easy to swallow. No stomach problems, no burping, no discernible side effects - except my skin looks a little bit better, and my last lipid profile was excellent!This formula closely adheres to the AREDS 2 study recommendations. If you're bewildered because you need a supplement for AMD, take the Viteyes, with or without the Omega-3. Trust me, I spent HOURS researching this and have taken this product for months.Edit: 4/17/16 - This item is currently available on subscribe and save, which brings the price down considerably from what it was. This is a 90-day supply.

I have used this product for several years and have found it to be effective. On my last three deliveries I have found ruptured capsules in the bottle. Except for the latest bottle, there was only one or two ruptured capsules. I considered that acceptable given the effectiveness of the product, but was concerned that it occurred on two consecutive deliveries. However, the latest bottle delivered must have contained a significant number of flawed capsules because the walls of the bottle were covered with the horrible smelling oily capsule contents, and of course all the intact capsules were also coated. Since there appears to be a trend, and in order to get the manufacturer's attention, I feel it necessary to render this 1-star rating.

I'm completely happy with these AREDS 2 Formula. As far as I can research, this is the only brand of AREDS 2 formula that does not necessitate having to take additional supplements such as vitamin C and the recommended dose of omega 3, It is the complete formula as recommended by the National Eye Institute.The gel caps are a bit large, but I have not encountered any difficulty in swallowing. They're a little slimmer than a typical fish oil gel cap. One bottle is a 90 day supply. You take one 3x/day.I'm hoping for good results. I'm looking forward to my next Opthamologist visit.

Significantly reduced the number of “floaters” I am seeing. Great product!

Update: At least 1 of the capsules had broken in the bottle, coating all the rest with strong smelling and tasting fish oil. I have seen this same issue in other reviews. I’ll be looking for another brand as this wasn’t a pleasant experience.Seriously strong fish smell and taste. Almost too strong to take. I have taken many other supplements with fish oil and these are the worst I have taken. Can’t state whether or not these will help I have just started taking them. I will definite be looking for something else when this bottle is empty.
