The Illustrated Guide to Daylilies

Love this book. The photos are beautiful and the paper stock is strong and glossy enough to carry the colors. I especially love the Where, When and How to Plant section and the one on Pests and Diseases Delightful surprises were the sections on Culinary Delights and Companion Plants.

Interesting book, got it in a timely manner. Very satisfied.

I love the photographs in this book and absolutely think its for anyone who loves the diversity of daylilies and grows them in their garden should own it. There is so much to learn, so many modern photos to enjoy and so many resources to explore. A+!

I love this book! It is full of beautiful photos, and a great resource for everyone from the backyard hobbyist to the hybridizer.

How far we have come! The precursor to this book took life in 1978 as a 72 page b&w, 6" x 9" booklet called The Beginners Handbook. It was free to new members of the daylily society and $2.00 to all others. The only things one can detect today that remind us of that heritage are that most of its 15 chapter headings are still included in the 24 chapters of this new book. Why! Well, some basics never change, but the daylily sure has and the content is nothing like that of the past. This full color 8.5" x 11" softcover book will be an excellent addition to any collection of gardening books. If a beginner, you will be amazed at what has occurred with the old "roadside" daylily, of which you may not be aware. The modern daylily is not your grandmother's "outhouse lily", or your mothers even for that matter! You have to see them to believe them and this book will do just that for you. Even a "hard-core" collector of daylilies will find useful information, perhaps how to cook using them, or address pests, and will certainly enjoy the photography. You should expect many photos of daylily blooms of all shapes and forms and patterns, and you will not be disappointed with those or landscape shots. But, personally, I found close-up photography in the chapter on beneficial insects to be my favorite.

The Illustrated Guide to Daylilies is the best book for daylily novices to experts for information relating to daylilies! This updated version is crammed with everything one needs to know from selecting and buying plants to growing daylilies in your landscape. There are even a few chapters on pests and diseases, hybridizing and photographing daylilies. Speaking of photography, all the topics are illustrated by fantastic photographs or drawings! Get yourself a copy! You won't be disappointed!PS- The 8.5" x 11" format and heavy, glossy pages are a pleasure to read for those of us with older eyes!
