Great fishing rods.
Great rods for the price compared to others of similar quality for less than half the price.

The perfect wahoo spinning rod….?
A previous reviewer who, mentioned heading south to Baja for wahoo, and expressed he was impressed with this rod, got my interest. I too am going out of San Diego in June, hopefully to experience a wahoo’s screaming run. I have to agree with him, that this PCH 7-6MH is top quality throughout. You get a lot of high end rod, for the money. It feels right. It looks amazing. It cast big plugs way out there. It lightweight but strong, I think it may even handle those pesky tuna, under a hundred pounds. I can’t wait to find out…. I have got a Diawa BG 3500, 40lb white Berkeley 9x braid, and a short 2 foot fluorocarbon top shot, and 12 inch, 70lb thin wire leaders on my stickbaits and poppers. It’s a thumbs up for me, even without the acid test!

Nice Action and Components at a Reasonable Price
Although I just received this rod and won't be able to try it until I go on a 7-Day long range trip out of San Diego in the fall, I am quite impressed by the overall quality, weight, action, and the components. I build my own saltwater rods, so I know what goes into making one and the importance of quality materials. The fact this has an ALPS reel seat, the finest made in my experience, and an ALPS metal gimbal is a testament to the thought and quality Okuma has put into this rod. A couple of things to note: I didn't notice this had already been answered in the Amazon "Q&A" section, but I called Okuma and spoke with Daniel Ramos about the fact the stripper guide has the feet reversed (meaning the two feet face the tip) compared to normal rods where the single foot faces forward; as he explained, the rod is wrapped this way because it helps prevent wind knots and line fouling on the first guide. Second, the rear handle section does not have the "bare blank" length as shown on their website, at least for this "Medium Heavy" model, but I consider this a positive and not a negative. I plan to use this with a Penn Slammer III 6500HS and 50# topshot with Halco poppers when I'm in wahoo and school size tuna territory and I feel confident it will get the job done. Okuma has done a great job of bringing an affordable quality popping rod to the market for under $200 and I thank them for that.Side note: I just noticed the guides on the rod are actually ALPS with zirconuim inserts, not Fuji with alconite inserts as the Okuma webpage states. The Alps guides are superior to Fuji in my opinion, so this is yet another plus for the rod and a pat on the back of Okuma for a job well done.

Beast of a rod
I like that it's very stout. I use this rod for short drops lbsf. Lots of backbone and quality components! Most of okuma products are junk but this is very nice well made piece! 👌

Fishy rod
I have just one fishing trip using this rod and it was on a rock fishing trip, not really what I bought the rod for but I put an Okuma 5N Metaloid reel on the rod and had a blast catching rockfish using a jig. The rod is light weight but sturdy and the finish on the rod is excellent. Nice reel seat, guides, etc.I will probably purchase a second rod in a different weight. My primary use will be offshore fishing for tuna, Dorado, yellowtail and hopefully wahoo.
