A beautiful romantic comedy....
This is a beautiful romantic comedy about a couple separated for two decades and reunited as their daughter plans to marry. This is another wonderful pairing of Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon! It was different seeing Garson play a gambling, wild, showgirl. The scenes with the acrobat troupe are hysterical. It was also amazing that Garson's stunning beauty was not overshadowed by Elizabeth Taylor's stunning beauty. I felt like I needed to put shades on when both Garson and Taylor had scenes together. Their beauty just lit up the screen! Although it was wonderful seeing Garson's character step so smoothly into role of mother after being absent for all of her daughter's life, I had to "suspend disbelief" because doesn't it take parents and children separated for many years to come to love one another or some period of adjustment? Nonetheless, I always enjoy happy endings....

IT'S FOOLISH BUT IT'S FUN!!
This film brings back lovely memories of sitting in the cinema watching a black and white movie and eating an ice cream which you bought from a girl with a tray. The film has a very original, if somewhat quirky plot. All good fun though, with some nice twists. Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon both give excellent performances, as you would expect. The film is also notable for the presence of a young Elizabeth Taylor, and also Peter Lawford - long before he achieved celeb status as a member of The Rat Pack and President Kennedy's brother-in-law. Committed film buffs should definitely have have this little gem in their collection

Great Movie for your collection.
Wonderful addition to the Greer Garson Library. I've been slowly and carefully building my library of this women's movies. This is a drama and comedy all in one. Great acting. My only negative if there is one.....the movie was shot in black and white. That makes it difficult to see Garson's stunning red hair. You like her ?....You'll like this.

Greer & Walter are so fun in this!
Greer Garson is so witty & talented! I love seeing her with her often "screen husband" together again. Walter Pigeon is reminded again, why he fell in love with Greer in the first place. Cesar Romero & his "brothers" do a great acrobatic act & Greer's antics thru the songs makes for some fun comedy that you wouldn't expect from such a glamourous actress! Usually, I cry at the end of a Greer Garson movie, but this one is light & fun! It's a good movie for the entire family. Enjoy!

Would have been nice to watch, if closed captioned.
Greer Garson is a fantastic actress, any movies she's been in were great. But, this DVD and the others that I had ordered at the same time, I gave them all to a niece. As all of them were not close captioned. Had ordered Miss Garson's other movies a few years ago and they were.close captioned - so what gives with these ones?? Boy, was I annoyed - will not be ordering any more with the wording "Archives" noted at the top there.

Excellent comedy with Greer Garson
Greer Garson shines in this genuinely entertaining comedy. She plays a stage actress (song and dance, vaudeville type fare) who unexpectedly gets invited to the wedding of the daughter she had to abandom with the wealthy husband she left behind all those years ago. Sound dire, but it's not. Instead, cue a true comedy ensemble piece also starring Walter Pidgeon and Elizabeth Taylor. WP is very good, but the star is Greer Garson who manages to be effervescently charming, and funny. The story is just sufficiently fast-paced, there are some romantic and dramatic scenes, and there is above all a genuinely funny and warm-hearted Greer Garson.

Julia misbehaves
