If you want to improve your martial arts knowledge/skills, then this book will help you. The first part of the book has basic principles from stances to footwork to striking tools. The second part of the book is more advanced and goes further into specific defenses, 5 ways of attack and trapping. Really liked the section on stop-hits.What I like about this is book is that they give you details that can enhance your techniques and strategies, regardless of your martial arts style. They also have great pictures that show you how to perform the techniques clearly. It is well written and gives you enough information (not too much and not too little) to fully understand the principles. I have been involved in martial arts for many years and am very glad I bought this.

Solid L.A. -era info
I have enough JKD books to start my own bookstore, but this is by far one of the best. The info is clear, complete, and flows nicely.I've practiced JKD since 1990 with instructors from all 3 periods of its' development (Seattle, Oakland, and Los Angeles). This book is a pure L.A.-era study. Everything is covered from footwork to philosophy. You can tell Tackett and Bremer were very good students of Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto, because the content of the book is excellent and does not leave anything out or mislead with bad information. The diagrams are excellent, showing good detail as well as showing common errors. This is a great introduction for a new student, or an excellent reference for better students.THis book is long overdue. A JKD source of this caliber has been missing for many years, and maybe it will straighten out the mess JKD has become.

Great Reference
I trained in JKD under an old student of Tackett's and these books act as a good visual reference for continued practice. The concepts involved are just as important as the tecniques.

Another Great Jeet Kune Do Book!
This is easily one of the best books on Jeet Kune Do that I have ever owned! I have all of Tim Tackett's books, and once again, he has not let me down! He and co-author Bob Bremer have presented in this volume some of the most valuable information on Bruce Lee's martial art ever put into print! The book is very well done, with precise, in-depth text and clear, well sequenced photographs. As a Full Instructor of Jeet Kune Do, I will be referring to this book as a teaching aid for years to come, and it is already required reading for all of my students! My suggestion to you is ... BUY IT NOW!

couldn't,t be better, if you are a Bruce Lee fan, this book goes to the top of my favorite list, easy to under stand, excellent photo,s, I am getting volume 2 also, iv been into martial arts for 40 + yrs, this book has insights from one of Bruce lee, students who trained with him personally , it is a must have.

Great book. Tim's photos and explanations are very well done and easy to understand. Great addition to my library. As a JKD student of 10 yrs. I really appreciate this book. Tim came to our school once and I was very impressed with his understanding of JKD.

Simple direct and well presented book on JKD
Tim and Bobs book on "old school JKD" really shows the difference between concepts and Bruce's JKD. Informing people of the relevence of fencing and explaining the history of how the art was developed and why. Simple and straight forward in Tims "no-nonsense" style. A truly excellent book for any serious JKD Student.

More advanced techniques in this book, Fantastic book, wrote by the one of the best Jeet Kune Do experts around, well written and good quality step by step photos, an excellent book to use in conjunction with proper Jeet Kune Do training.

gutes Buch
An diesem Buch gibt es wenig auszusetzen. Die Techniken der alten Herren sind allesamt sprübar gereift. Die Routine, welche das Buch durchzieht, hinterlässt ein Gefühl der Sicherheit. Das ist mal eine angenehme Abwechslung. Der Kommando-Ton fehlt völlig.Dazu stimmen Preis und Aufmachung. Das Werk ist nur zu empfehlen.
