Norpro Chicken Timer

I love this cute little timer! My kids got it for me in my stocking for Christmas. It’s holding up really nicely and it seems to keep good time. And it’s just so darn cute!

UPDATE recieved a replacement and THAT one didn't work either. I'm disappointed in all the trouble one has to go through for this kitchen timer. I will ne asking for a refund AGAIN.

I bought this cutie little chicken timer for when I throw a bunch of stuff in the dryer and need to pull a few things out earlier than the rest to hang (this is just what works for our fam). It works simply and is loud enough for me to hear in the other room. This particular timer seemed more cute to me than other ones on the market and since it is sitting in a main room at all times, that was important to me in this case. The low price makes me okay with how long it may or may not last, because I can easily order another if needed. But so far it has lasted at least three months with being used one or two days a week!

Update: Ok, I just upped this by one star, as I'm finding this more useful than I thought, and the dinger has increased in length from what it did at first and so I can better hear it w/o accidentally ignoring it (which I did when at first it was just a really short 'ding'). After a few months of use, here is what I'm finding...1. It does NOT work well for timing something short, like 6-7 minutes or less - that is when it might only give you one little 'ding' or not ding at all.2. It absolutely ticks as it's counting down3. For me, as long as I have it nearby I don't miss the ding, but if I'm in another room when it dings it's not loud enough to carry far and I will miss it.Original review:I'm tired of using the microwave timer or my phone when cooking something in the regular oven, so I decided to get a simple, basic timer & wanted something cute. Well, upon receipt I was a bit disappointed in this one as the colors aren't as well applied or as vivid as looks on this picture. But, since it's not that expensive, I figured it wasn't that big of a deal. However, where I DO have a problem, is that the timer only makes one, not-really-very-loud 'ding' when it's done, so it's really easy to miss (which happened the first time I used it & I over cooked my daughter's pizza by about 15 minutes.So, I'm back to looking for a good one. This would be fine if you keep it right next to you so you notice the ding, but I need something I can leave on the kitchen counter and hear from at least 15ft. away.

It's a great kitchen timer !!

The color is a dull dark brown instead of a bright red. The ringing noise is a bit quiet. The timer is also not accurate (off by like 30 seconds), so you actually need to wind it to like 1:30 ish mark to actually get a one minute alarm. I think the countdown itself may be correct, but the alignment with the numbers marked on the timer is not accurate. The grip on the item itself is nice though because it's not slippery
