Not Sure About This Garden Hose
I agree with most other reviewers. I have owned Swan garden hoses in the past, and the outside material of this garden hose is odd. It isn't rubber, but it isn't exactly reinforced vinyl either. After unwinding, laying flat, and running water through it as instructed, this hose still wants to kink. I do like the construction of the couplings. It doesn't seem that flexible. It keeps fighting me even after being on the lawn in the sun for several days. I rolled it up on the hose reel and the return policy indicates that I have 30 days to decide if this is staying home or being returned. Ambivalent about this purchase.

Time will tell if this hose deserves 5 stars.
I bought one of these Swan hoses about 20-years-ago and it is still working well. These hoses don't kink much. They are easy to maneuver, and easy coil up. I had bought what I thought was a top-grade hose several years ago, but it kinked, cracked and split. Hopefully, this hose is made of the same material as the old one.

No longer is this malleable.
They have changed this product. My first one lasted over 25 years. It never kinked and this one kinks.. it also comes coiled for shipping purpose. Even sitting it in the hot sun will not change the coiling and it fights you everyday you use it. It remains coiled when you want it not to be. Super sad!!!

Second Swan hose
Like my old Swan hose, the new one works great. Kinks occasionally but is softer than most.

Not like it used to be
Bought this in May but did not need it until recently due to a cool wet spring. Second time I used it, the female end started to leak at the hose end watering attachment. Although I have unwound the hose properly, as well as followed directions and let it sit in the sun, I often have kinks in the hose that stop the water flow. Unfortunately, when all this happened, it was past the return window. I will look for another hose, but not a Swan Hose.

Save your money
This hose is prone to twist and kinkwhile it does feel somewhat soft, ot isn't very pliable. I would call this product disappointing. Save yourself some money and aggravation. Avoid

Crimping
I bought this a month ago and at the first use the inner material crimped when the hose twisted in various places. Tried straightening the hose but the inner material is already damaged. So disappointed in this especially as I canโt return it because itโs already shipped out of the country.

Only time will tell!
I had a 100' soft and supple hose I bought in the summer 2003. Unfortunately, the male end of that hose recently failed after 12 years. Since I hate messing around with those menders that inevitably leak, I started searching for a new hose. I couldn't find another soft and supple hose locally so I turned to Amazon. My new hose arrived today. After successfully unrolling it the correct way and rolling it onto my reel it seems similar to the old hose. The proper way to unravel a new hose is to walk it out, rolling the coil of hose in the grass, and let the hose unravel in a straight line. The outer coating is a matte finish, whereas the old one was slightly shinier and less porous. I'm concerned how well this will hold up over time, as I regularly drag the hose across a large paver patio to water my pots of flowers. It will definitely scratch and scuff easily, that's for sure. So far so good, but I will update this review after a few months! I can see why people may be dissatisfied with the updated version, but start off right and unravel the hose correctly and it will affect how well it performs in the long run!

Lightweight, flexible, high volume but not a high pressure hose
It is indeed a soft and flexible hose. The fittings are quality machined brass. The hose is two ply elastomer with a thin fibre reinforcement between the plies. I would not recommend leaving this hose filled with water, the ends closed off, laying in the sun. The instructions warn: "Do no run hot water through this hose. Do not leave the hose under pressure when it is not in use. Heat or pressure many damage your hose, and could cause it to leak or burst."Because the hose is so soft, it will kink and close off easily, however if you need a high volume hose for general watering and it will not be closed off under pressure, it is lightweight and very flexible.I used it as a supply line for an open ended irrigation system and it is very good for that purpose.

Good quality
Good quality but not as pliable as expected.

Three Stars
It's not what I would call soft or supple. Just a regular hose.
