This Book Is Gay Paperback – June 2, 2015

Breezy but thorough."This Book is Gay" is aimed at young queer folk. However, the author never talks down to her audience and she covers the entire range of topics for any of us who have come out as queer and for those thinking of coming out.This would also be great for straight people who might want to learn about our LGBTQ communities.Highly recommended.

I bought this book primarily because it had been placed on several “banned books” lists. Which just goes to show how afraid of facts some people are. There are only two restrained nude line drawings, one of a man and one of a woman. And their inclusion isn’t frivolous, the drawings are to enhance the educational value of the text. The text itself is factual and very matter of fact (and occasionally funny). There’s no attempt to appeal to prurient interests, only to curiosity, and to answer that curiosity with factual information, accompanied by personal quotes from a variety of people.

I enjoyed it, although some things could have been changed or not added at all lol

I work in education, and I got this as a quick read, and it was so awesome that if I worked with older students, I would share it with them, especially those who are questioning their identities.

Super informative whether you are gay or not. Totally recommended for anyone who wants to know from the very basis what being LGBTQ means

I bought this book because school boards are being asked to ban it. (There is no better advertisement for a book than that - great boost for the author and publisher.) I’m a 73 year old grandmother. The book is explicit but not scintillating. I have no doubt that the kids reading it have far, far more explicit and exciting sources of information. The book would be enormously helpful to a kid with questions, nothing to ban here. Happily, our local school board gave the ban request its full attention, like any other request, and then voted not to ban books.

This book includes almost everything you need to know about being gay. It would be great for gay teenagers, as well as people that want to understand the experience of being gay. There is a chapter that is very explicit as it explains sex for gay youth.

Juno Dawson has written a must read for anyone wishing to better themselves and the world. Learning is the key to understanding; understanding is the key to love and peace. There is no "right" truth, no matter what anyone says.
