A handy way to carry spare batteries in the pistol grip of your AR15!
The media could not be loaded. I just assembled a new AR 15 using a lot of Magpul hardware and I also purchased one of these grip cores for battery storage. I am using a Magpul MIAD grip and it normally comes with a storage area for a small oil bottle. While that is handy I wanted the battery storage for the batteries I use in my Aimpoint Pro red dot sight.I do use Magpul MBUS sights as a backup but I would find it frustrating when the battery goes dead in the red dot optics. The batteries do last 3 years but I still decided that I wanted to carry a couple of extra batteries in the pistol grip of the rifle. The sight uses Duracell 1/3N lithium batteries. The grip is designed for storing two AA or two AAA batteries. I just took the batteries out of their packaging and dropped them into a Ziploc bag for redundant water proofing with the part number and expiration date of 2024 also in the Ziploc bag.I like the battery storage core as it has a top cap that is sealed by pressing it into the core and a ring molded into the cap seals it like an O-ring seal to help keep moisture out of the battery storage area. There is a tab on top of the cap to help you pull the cap off and I show it in my video. When you use the fresh batteries you can store the used ones in the core and flip over the cover. The bottom side has the engraved word SPENT on it to remind you to get fresh batteries. The battery core can hold two AA batteries and there is an insert sized to hold two AAA/N batteries. The batteries are securely held so they don't move or rattle while you are carrying the rifle. I have to tell you that if you press the AAA/N battery insert all of the way down it is very difficult to remove and you may need to use a pair of long nose pliers to pull it back out. I could have simply put the small Duracell N sized Lithium batteries into the inner battery insert but to be honest the insert and the batteries were so tight in the core that I couldn't get them out without long nose pliers to pull out the insert. Since I don't always carry pliers with me while I am shooting or hunting I went for the Ziploc bag method. It worked well and it provided double protection from the ingress of moisture. This is a nice addition if you have a MIAD, MOE, and MOE+ Grip on your rifle. I rated it at 5 stars. I hope my video was useful for you.

Everything you'd expect from MagPulOutYourWallet
Great item. Handy for storing spare batteries for your electronic optics, noise cancelling ear-muffs, flashlight, or vintage 80s Walkman.Pros: Functions as advertised; holds 2 batteries. Nice snug fit inside the MOE grip; the unit itself doesn't rattle inside the grip. Water resistant cap keeps grit, grime and precipitation out of the container.Cons: A bit steep for what you're getting. Paying for that MagPul name. A few bucks less seems more reasonable. The batteries rattle inside the container itself. You can cut some pieces of plastic grocery bag and wrap the batteries before inserting them, and it soaks up the extra space.Keep in mind, there are other battery storage options out there though. Your pocket, for example. Or maybe even your range bag. But if you absolutely must have on-board battery storage for when your optics go dead while you're low-crawling through the checkout line at Starbucks, MagPul makes the ACS butt stock that has battery storage in it. That would free up your grip for something else useful like a spare bolt assembly, multi-tool from Samson, or a pack of chewing gum. Or even a cyanide pill to put yourself out of your misery because Starbucks was out of vegan Oprah chai latte.Bottom line: Yes, I would buy it again, if I needed a place to store batteries.

Quality I've come to expect from Magpul
It seems everything Magpul touches turns to gold. I love their products, and their innovative ideas. The CR123 grip core is a great accessory and a perfect solution for getting a set of spare CR123 batteries onboard with your rifle or carbine. If you are running a light that uses these kinds of batteries, chances are you're running a powerful and energy thirsty light. I keep spare batteries in my pack, but this way, I know I've got a set of batteries with my rifle no matter what. The batteries slide into the grip core tightly enough that they don't rattle around in it, yet drop out easily (I use Surefire CR123 batteries in everything). The rubberized cap makes the entire thing waterproof and stays out of the way when inserted into the grip of the weapon. Once in the grip, the locking latch catches and the entire assembly stays nice and tight and doesn't rattle around. The grip core replaces the little grip cover that came with my MOE grip, which actually did rattle somewhat. Of course, it wasn't noticeable in the field, but that always bothered me just a little bit. Grip core = worth every penny.

Hide it!
Great for magpul grips! Fits cr123 batteries and doesn’t rattle around. Waterproof for dummies like me that fall in streams on slippery rocks! And I hate it when a battery dies in the beginning/middle of its mission. Great lil backup spot that doesn’t take pocket space and is on the “tool” for when exactly THAT happens. Now, that I’ve recently purchased a stock that has waterproof battery storage…I might try magpul’s oil bottle option for my grip. If it’s anything close to the quality of this…it’ll be perfect too!

Great quality as usual with magpul
Way too expensive ... Look at other web sites where they are half the price. Great quality as usual with magpul.

Great addition to any rifle
Is exactly what it is supposed to be. Fits snugly into pistol grip with no rattle. Rubber seal on battery compartment fits well and seems like it might actually be waterproof (I haven't tested the seal yet) and fits 2 C123 batteries perfectly.
