Practice
These work great to put on your existing sticks. Pops right in and lowers the volume a lot. Turn anything into a practice pad and Also fun on drums and cymbals.

Nice Feel on Surfaces you Practice On
Note, these are designed and sold as 'practice' tips that are for hitting the sticks on surfaces such as desk, tables, walls, etc. They can be used on drums and cymbals but will not not quiet the drums down, but will quiet the cymbals down, and provide a 'mallet' like sound on both. So, understanding what they are designed for they got the 5 stars.

Great for muting purposes
I wanted to play drums on my acoustic kit with less noise. When I put these tips on my drumsticks to play drums, I noticed a few things right away. Since they are a hard rubber, they do dampen sound but not completely. When I hit a cymbal with the drum sticks, they give a tiny sort of sound (which I wasn't expecting) but like I said, the sound is definitely muted. If I choose to use them on a practice pad, essentially its rubber hitting rubber so there's little sound. When the tips are on the drumsticks, you could strike the drumstick on any surface to dampen sound and not damage the object, but be cautious when doing this. I personally would not recommend doing this but if you want to, go ahead.Everything comes down to personal preference how you'd like sound to be heard. Room acoustics also give a story to how sound is heard. In opinion, I'd give these a try and see how they work for you.

Heck yeah.
These things are awesome! I carry my drum sticks around with me and these little things turn every surface into a practice pad and it’s amazing. I need to get some more of these.Ps. I have other styles like those black and red ones that have a bit of texture to them but they aren’t as nice as these imo, these feel better, although the other ones are better for certain style tips like larger barrel and plastic tip since they are bigger/looser. These ones work best with small barrel or acorn tips.

These tips are so dang versatile
These are really nice and damn cool stick tips. I got them to be able to replace my on the go practice pad and wow... they work so well. The tips are a soft rubber and play very nice on counter top. They work well on other varieties of materials such as wood, concrete, glass, etc. And yes I walked around my house and tapped on every possible thing and may have nearly broken my window. If you plan on using these to practice with marching sticks, I would stay away. The tips don’t fit properly onto 2bs’ let alone a marching stick. What they do fit on to is 5bs’ really, really well. I play with 2b, 5b and 55a and I’d say they fit best on the 5b. 2b stretches it out a little to much for what I’m comfortable with and 7as’ are just all around small; 7a works but again... 5b is the best fit.

These aren’t supposed to muffle!
Pay no attention to the 1 or 2 star reviews that complained about the noise level or that the didn’t work when playing heavy metal. These are not designed to reduce noise or to play on a drum set or even a snare. They are designed to warm up your hands and practice rudiments on a table top or any surface really when you’re not near your drums.Perfect for backstage warm ups or working on hand exercises on a table top. No practice pad required. But yes, if your play them on a set of drums, they will probably be just as loud as regular sticks, but again, that IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DO!!!!!

Nice effect, but they don't stay on
Bought these to use on a few specific songs during live performances, not just for practice. They do give a nice deep sound on the toms, which I like, but tough to get a decent crash on a cymbal (as expected). Nice effect when doing a roll on a cymbal, though. Unfortunately, they don't stay on the sticks very well - they both came flying off near the end of the first song. Since then, I've taken a pair of new sticks, sanded and roughed them up a bit, and glued the rubber tips to the sticks using carpenters glue. A few songs in, so far so good.
