How do you get rid of the lag?

Hi. I have never experienced any lag, either in video or audio feed, so I am not sure if it is something to do with part of your setup, or a faulty unit.

can you use with hdmi switch box?

I am sure you can. Just think of it as basically another HDMI lead. Its only difference is that it is adapting a signal from a non HD source.
