Great performance and features for the price - perfect for a complete novice like me.
I have been thinking about getting a drone for some time, but didn't want to spend £1k on one of the leading well-known models in case I didn't enjoy it or couldn't fly them! Spotted this Potensic D58 in one of Amazon's lightening deals, did a quick bit of research and decided to take the plunge. The joy of Amazon Prime means you don't have to wait long for your toys, and sure enough it arrived the next day. Adequately-packaged, the drone was ready to fly out of the box once the battery was charged (via USB) and some AAAs installed in the remote. (Some people complain that batteries aren't included with this sort of item, but really, 3 AAAs is hardly going to break the bank!) Downloaded the app from Google Play, paired it to the drone, skim-read the instructions, calibrated the drone as per instructions, and I was up and flying! It really is very easy to fly, with all the GPS stabilisation stuff really making a difference. Whilst the camera isn't going to win any photography awards, it's decent for this price point, and provides a fascinating perspective on things previously only seen from ground level. I'm glad I bought a second battery at the same time as I now get about 35-40 mins flight time, each one lasting 18-20 minutes (which seems to be pretty good compared to other models I looked at). Whilst it's easy to fly, it's not so easy to be proficient (at least for me, anyway). This, as it turns out, is no bad thing, as I'm enjoying honing my skills and improving. And at this price point I don't have to worry too much about crashing either! The return to home (when the battery's low, or by pressing a button at any time) is handy too, for all those Tom Cruise "Son, your ego's writing cheques your body can't cash" moments! All in all, I'd say if you're like I was, wanting to dip your toe and find out what drones are all about without spending a fortune, I'd heartily recommend the D58, preferably with at least one extra battery so you can fly one and charge one. Since most of what I want to do is "explore from above" I'm not even sure that a much more expensive drone would give me any more benefits.

Great Starter Drone
I bought this drone hoping it would be a good starting point for drone photography and it didn't let me down at all.Having struggled to fly RC helicopters in the past I didn't want to spend a fortune on a high end drone until I was sure I was comfortable flying a quadcopter style drone so I watched a few youtube videos and liked the sound of it so I went for it.On first impressions it is quite lightweight and I worried a bit whether it would be OK in wind, and how it would manage with a crash landing but these proved to be groundless. The light weight turns out to be a bit of a bonus as it is below the weight limit beyond which you need CAA registration to fly.For the maiden flight I found a nice open space with no-one around (other than my daughter) I set it up and within seconds it was whizzing around under total control even in breezy conditions. The automatic take-off and return home gave a lot of peace of mind but actually doing everything manually was perfectly simple. Being able to adjust the angle of the camera via the remote was a nice bonus as many similar drones have fixed cameras. I was comfortable enough with its ease of use that I let me 12 year old have a go and she had no problems either.Camera quality is fairly good - a little judder here or there but perfectly acceptable if you view this as an RC aircraft with a camera rather than a camera that you can fly.Battery life is excellent - I got close to the 18 mins quoted time - probably around 16 or 17 mins before the low battery warning came on and the return to home kicked in returning the drone safely to base. Additional batteries are pretty cheap so its worth getting two or three. It has only had one hard landing so far - in long grass when doing a decent speed but no damage sustained and so the spare propellers that came with it are still in reserve! All in all I was extremely impressed for a drone of this price and a great intro to drone flying.

Ideal Drone for Beginners
This is an ideal drone for beginners like myself. It’s easy to fly and is very robust when the inevitable crashes occur! The drone has some great functions like the auto return, orbit, and follow me modes. The picture quality is okay, it’s not exactly professional HD standard, but it’s good enough for home use. The battery life is also better than others in this price range. It looks great when lit up in the dark too! I just wish it came with a case, I’ve looked to buy one afterwards but it looks like they’re out of stock everywhere!

Great to fly but camera not the best.
This drone flies well, great as a starter drone to get to know the controls.Battery lasts about 10 minutes on average, so make sure get at least two, but the camera isn't the best. The video quality I got from the camera I wouldn't class as HD. Trees were blurred, it lacked image detail and the damper on the camera didn't really dampen the drones movement.Although it flew well and was easy to control, I wanted it for taking video so this one wasn't for me and sadly I returned it. I now have DJI Mavic Pro which has an excellent 4k camera.

A great drone for the money
After considering a lot of different camera drones in this price range, I decided to go for the Potensic D58 and wasn't disappointed. It does everything that you'd want a beginners camera drone to do. The range is great, the battery life is good, there's no loss of FPV quality on the phone app while flying (even when 300 metres away), and the controller is sleek and comfortable. The controls are easy to pick up and it's surprisingly easy to fly.Perhaps most impressively for a drone of this price: the camera is mounted on a sort of simple gimbal, which helps to stabilise any video that's captured. The camera can also tilt by up to 90 degrees with a flick of a wheel on the controller, which allows for more flexibility with camera angles while flying.

Doesn’t work
It’s never been off the ground as it won’t calibrate or connect to my phone. Very expensive mistake

Camera issue
Flight and control seems o.k but have a large green blob on playback of all recordingings and photos made. The sense is clean.
