Scratch for Kids goes much deeper into the art editor than any other Scratch book. Breen does an excellent job showing how to build up sprites and backgrounds from simple elements, and how to animate them. There is no better explanation of the relative merits of vector and bitmap modes. The book is a superior guide to Scratch animation, and how to add sound and other media elements to create entertaining games. Highly recommended even for experienced Scratchers!

If you or your colleagues are working with Scratch you will love this book by Derek Breen. Actually if you are not using Scratch you will want to after looking at the book. Scratch for Kids for Dummies is written from a graphic designer's point ofview. It is full of insights and techniques for creating games, players, and backgrounds.

The book is very well written, I am impressed so far about how professionally done this book is. I would probably buy this book for a child who has some experience in scratch, but it is probably good even if they do not.

Great book that helped me stretch Scratch for my coding students. It's more than projects, it provides depth for the Scratch language that I had trouble finding elsewhere.

I took this book into school for the children to look at and they loved it (no not a teacher sob, sob). Parents have since asked me what I used to inspire the children and I gave them the details of this book (although there are other books available which I have) the children preferred this one.

Not good for kids. Just not interesting enough
