good news for chocoholics
It is great to know that dark chocolate is good for you. Too bad that it needs sugar to be palatable!

Fun to read while eating chocolate.
This book is good and it outlines all the important health benefits of chocolate very well. The only problem with it is all the talk of this book is revolved around candy chocolate. For example one chapter "Chocolate is Not For Everyone: Some Bittersweet Views" starts off: "Does all this good news about chocolate entice you to run, not walk, to your nearest chocolate shop, grocery store, or online retailer to buy bars and chocolates? If so keep in mind that chocolate does contain sugar, fat and calories. And yes, you can certainly gain chocolate diet woes and gain unwanted weight if you eat a carton of chocolate fudge ice cream, two brownies, and a box of 15 truffles every day. A calorie is a calorie and chocolate is not calorie free." Why does she always assume I am eating candy chocolate? This book fails to differentiate between the quality of different chocolates and the ingredients within in regards to health. The recipes she gives are a give away when she tells you to add margarine, white flour, sugar, instant coffee, corn syrup, and hershey kisses to name a few. Most chocolate on the market today is genetically modified which means plainly in case you haven't heard or done the research that it is bad for your health. Also many of the ingredients that are often added to chocolate such as soybeans and corn syrup are also genetically modified. A better read on the subject of the health benefits of chocolate is "Naked Chocolate" by David Wolfe. David Wolfe advocates eating chocolate in its raw and organic form, not only to avoid all the dangerous chemicals but because cooking cacao destroys many of the special chemicals like the phenyethylamines which are the phytonutrients responsible for feeling more loving after we eat chocolate. While Cal Orey repeatedly warns against the overconsumption of this food David Wolfe writes: "The Cacao bean has always been and will always be Nature's number one weight loss and high-energy food." I can only enjoy this book as I trust in myself to read between the lines. But if any of you out their have not heard about the benefits of raw chocolate I strongly recommend you read David Wolfes book first.
