I can keep my TimeMachine drive plugged in and my card reader in-line. The 3.0 chaining port is worth the few extra bucks!

I ordered this because I needed an xqd reader to do a firmware update for my camera. Out of the three slots, the only one that was faulty was the one I needed.

This appears to be working great. It is really fast, much faster than plugging my camera into the computer.

I bought this after two Sony XQD/SD readers had failed on me. I was looking for something small, fast and reliable.I like the small size of this reader. I can see how some complain about the short cable length, but I carry a 6" USB extension cable in my laptop bag anyway because of some other devices I use, so it's not an issue for me.As for the speed, I attached the result of benchmarks. The first one shows this reader reading my Lexar G Series (400 MB/sec) 32GB XQD card at 312 MB/sec, which is as fast as other XQD readers I have tried. I don't worry about the write speed, since other than doing a camera firmware update, I never write to memory cards from my computer.I was disappointed though with the read speed on the SD card. The benchmark result shown is using a Lexar 2000x (300 MB/sec) 32GB SD card, and shows a read speed of only 94 MB/sec. I reduced my star rating because of this.The "feel" of inserting cards is a bit flimsier on this reader vs. others that I have used. You don't need much insertion force, but you don't feel any kind of feedback that it's fully engaged. But, it works, and time will tell if the thing wears out quickly.

Product quit working after seven months. Can not find the claimed 36 month warranty.

It works and it was the cheapest one I could find on Amazon when I purchased. Can't speak to the speed as I'm never in some life or death situation where I really care when I'm going to upload photos.

Only worked about 2 weeks. Used it maybe 4 times.
