Works but very cheaply made
I gave this product four stars for a really great idea and very mediocre execution. It is very poorly constructed. The various electrical fittings are quite fragile, and once the plastic case is opened it is almost impossible to close again. I can only hope that the thing works when it needs to (I did test it and it works now). The plumbing parts seem to be much better than the electrical parts.I am guessing this product is partly or wholly made in China. It's too bad that this small company cannot manage to make this product in a little more of a quality manner, as it is a mission critical device. I don't think the current pricing really reflects how cheaply it is made either. I don't mind the high price but I do ask more of the product. My unit worked fine out of the box, I did call customer service though and a human answered right away. That is great to know for such a complex product.

Good product
I like the product. I install on all my rentals and house. We had a plastic tube leak over time and we didn't realize it was leaking. Had to take ceiling off and check beams.

Easy to overtighten connection and destroy proprietary O ring
We used this to install in front of the water line going to our refrigerator. It was easy enough to connect but when I turned the water on I ended up with a small drip. After tightening the connection the drip got worse. Disconnecting it showed that the O-ring was crushed. So, my initial tightening (which didn't feel very tight) was apparently too much for the O-ring.A visit to both Home Depot and Lowes didn't turn up a replacement O-ring so I ended up just using the product as a water leak alarm. My experience also made it apparent to me that a leak could occur between the water supply and the newly created and apparently fragile fitting of the product and the shut off valve wouldn't help with that. I would want a much more robust and trust worthy connection before I would rely on it not leaking.

Can save a disaster!
The ice maker water input valve in my refrigerator burst and water began flooding out. Fortunately, I was standing in the kitchen at the time. I pulled the fridge out and shut off the water. After replacing the valve I found out about this device. I ordered and installed it, which was extremely easy. Form the pictures, you can see I had no problems with spacing or direction. The provided fittings were correct. I think it would have helped if the cable to the valve was a little longer. I let a little water pass over the sensor and the alarm sounded and the water shut off immediately! I live in a condo, so if I had been away from home the problem I had would have quickly become a disaster! I'm so impressed, I am now going to buy one for the washer.

Agree with the "poorly engineered" opinions
I own the washing machine version of this device, which is OK but there are less expensive (& better engineered) options for that. I've not found an alternative to FloodStop for ice makers & RO systems, so I bought this FloodStop for my RO system. I did read all of the complaints about the connectors, but figured buying adapters if need be would not be a big deal. I was wrong. Like everyone else here, the engineering choice for the connectors is a classic example of "bad engineering". Neither my RO system nor ice maker use "FS 1/4-C" or "FS 1/4-C" fittings. (FS stands for Face Seal & uses a rubber gasket, and are NOT the same as the industrial FS standard.) Both use ferrule compression fittings like you see in droves at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace & Truevalue. And yes, I am an engineer. What a good engineer would have done is had the valve blocks made with NPT connections in this size range which are an extremely common standard (basic pipe thread standard), which then every customer could just go to their local hardware store & buy adapters, for a couple of bucks each, to whatever they wanted to connect to. (Ironically they make this unit with NPT sizes down to 1/2", but not in 3/8" & 1/4".) It's frustrating to fork out well over $100 for a badly engineered product for which connecting becomes a big deal due to incompetent engineering choices.

BEST HUNDRED DOLLARS YOU WILL SPEND
This is the second Floodsop I own. I have one on my Washer. I had a neighbor whose house flooded after the ice maker line broke. So I bought this device. I had two technical questions for Product Support. They were very courteous. One warning... there is a small black washer that can fall out of the device and gets lost in the packaging. Look for it before throwing out the box.

Faulty/cost me a ton extra
It took me a long time to get the plumber here to install. (3 months, in fact) it’s such a small job, he waited until I had something else for him to do to make it worth the call.I bought it at the end of sept. It sat in a sealed box until I could get it installed. They came to install it on 1/5/23.The minute he installed it, my icemaker stopped working. Sooo, I had to pay him to return to figure out what was wrong. It’s the flood stop. It’s blocking the flow of water.Amazon says it’s past my window to return, so now I am out the cost of this & all of the plumber bills. Whoa!My plumber says this is the brand they use & usually are ok, so maybe this seller buys faulty product?I would like to return it for a replacement. I feel as though I should be able to return it. It was installed for 1/2 of a fay
