In putting together a non-serious bugout kit (because what else was I going to due while being stuck at home), I purchased this specifically because I wanted something with a little extra weight at the end to also function as a kind of axe/machete so I didn't need to bring both. On top of that, it looked neat to me, so it fit the bill nicely. It was a little thicker than I originally gave it credit for, and with it's existing heft, it serves the purpose quite well. I actually took it to a small dead sapling out back and true to form it worked like I hoped it would. Due to it's length, it is easy for me to sharpen, but on the other hand I'm still a little worried about busting it in half if I botch a swing. Still, it's fairly thick so that's probably not much of a concern. Great conversation starter for people not in any way prepared to see it just sitting there next to modest camping gear.
