Funk & Soul Power: Play Tenor Sax with the Band (Play With the Band)

The standard of musicianship to enjoy the book would be for someone passing through ABRSM grade 6 aspiring to higher level. It requires improvisation from outset. It seems aimed at a saxophonist that is already capable of jamming in a serious jazz/soul band. I find it hard to think such a person would need a play along book.I do wish music book authors & sellers could devise a way of indicating the musicianship assumed and required. I feel a little mean giving only three stars but the vendor needs ensure the buyer knows enough about what they are buying, Should be easy to get better star ratings with better pre-purchase info.Of course that is just me - it is a serious book and could complement series such as "The Real Books" which are very popular with emerging good musicians. Intermediate going on to professional, i'd guess.

There were not any famous tunes to play along to ,just ones that were similar.

Man kann zur Begleit-CD Solo spielen oder einen von mehreren Bläsersätzen. Ist also auch für mehrere Spieler geeignet!Daneben gibt es weitere Infos zu Dynamik, Artikulation und Effekte, Harmonien und Improvisation. Zum Abschluss Hörtipps und Rhythmusübungen. Auf der beigefügten CD befinden sich neben Voll- und Halbplayback auch noch Rhythmusübungen und Bläsersätze als PDF-File.

Sehr gutes Buch für Fortgeschrittene Spieler! Sehr anspruchsvoll, wenn man es richtig gut spielen mag. Auch mit vielen Erklärungen zum Aufbau der Songs, Raum und Anleitung für eigene Improvisation. Ich spiele es mit der B-Klarinette, was auch wunderbar funktioniert und klingt. Die CDU als Backing Track hört sich auch echt gut an!
