I love this bow!
I got this bow to replace the one that came with my electric violin. There is a major difference between them. The one that came with my violin kept losing hairs every time I played and the weight felt abnormal. This bow from Haoyue is fantastic. It's well worth the money! Not only is it a higher quality bow, but you literally feel like you are playing with air. There is little to no weight to it. It glides across the strings like no other bow I've played with. Incredible bow - I'll never go back to my other and if I had to buy one again, it would be from this same company.

Good quality!
I bought my son a new bow for his violin because the one that came with his new violin only lasted a few months before I had to replace it. Which is why I came to Amazon and picked this one and we couldn't be more happier with the quality and longevity...its been 6 months and its broken in and doing well. The quality is there glad I didn't go to an overpriced music store to replace his bow and I will order again if needed!!

“Tinny” Sound
Having played violin for over twenty years, I wanted to see if I could get a decent practice bow online without going back to a brick and mortar store, Brobst, where I bought my violin back in 2001.This violin made no sound whatsoever, before I applied rosin 8,836 times. Okay, I exaggerate, but you get the idea. I ordered one from another vendor at the same time to compare both to my original. That one (Fiddlerman) needed rosin as well, but at least it made a sound (even if suboptimal) straight out of the box. This one was as silent as a stealthy thief, and after several days of applying rosin, it started sounding like a normal violin bow.Even then, I found the sound it produced to be rather “tinny” and I much preferred my original bow (which is several years overdue for rehairing) AND the Fiddlerman bow (with a few applications of rosin) over this. The build quality also left a bit to be desired (a problem I had with both new bows, but not for the same reason). The weight and feel of it was great. It was truly beautiful, and very attractive, but some of the hairs were kinked and eventually came out. So, in addition to sounding less than ideal, bow hairs were coming out! Finally, I decided it just simply did not do my violin justice, even for a practice bow, and returned it. I suggest you compare a few to really understand how your violin sounds with different bows. It may be appropriate for a beginner, but there are better ones for the same price anyway!Without a side by side comparison, I may have kept it, but ultimately, I’m glad I didn’t. Good luck! Please rate my review if it helped you :) and happy fiddling!

Good bow for the money
I bought this bow to replace the cheap student bow that came with my violin. This is a nice upgrade without being prohibitively expensive. Good balance and responsiveness. I play classic, pop, and trad, and this is fine for all.

Buy this bow!
This bow is awesome and easier to use than the one I am replacing. I actually sound better. This has a nice deep sound which is exactly what I was looking for. I would buy again.

Worth a try!
Well made and plays like a more expensive bow.

It takes time to get to the initial sound after playing it the first time.
*EDIT* 2/23/2021*The Bow is better now then what it was, either I need new rosin or the horse hair used is of lower quality then I presumed. After a couple rosin sessions when practicing I was finally able to get the original quality sound I noticed when I first tried out this bow. I am now to the point I can get thru three to four practice sessions with out the need to rosin and with no tonal loss.*Original*So I purchased this bow about two weeks ago and at first I was impressed with the quality, and could hear a tonal difference when compared to my other carbon fiber bow. but after the first week of practicing it became very flat and the tonal differences between this bow and my other one was gone.My E became very pitchy with this bow, and my G became very verbose. D was great going up scale, and A was flat once I started going up scale. All in all I am not impressed with the tonal quality.I'm really disappointed with the quality, I really liked the feel of this bow. It feels really lite compared to my other carbon fiber bow, and I really like the frog on this one. the Pad and Grip are also great, unfortunately the tonal quality isn't there.I've started the refund process,

Excellent archet

Nice looking finish
This is a pretty looking bow, at an okay price. The wood appears to have a nice color finish to it, and the little bit of abalone looks nice, too. This looks as if it would be lightweight. We were looking forward to testing this out.I'm sure this bow would be a lovely, inexpensive learners tool for those who receive it.

good sound
I'm new to violin playing so I decided to spend bit more money to compensate for my cheaper bow that came with the violin.I'm not sure yet if it's a great bow but it does look better, the bow hair width is wider

Excellent playability and strength in an inexpensive bow. A great bargain!
I have played violin for almost five decades now (one day soon I may even get good at it!). Over that time I have tried many violins and many bows. This Haoyue bow comes in at a reasonable price point, where it's inexpensive enough for students and others to try a carbon-fiber bow for the first time, but it's not a cheaply-made bow by any means. I've tried a couple of carbon-fiber bows in the past decade, both costing many times what this Haoyue bow costs. There's a number of advantages to carbon fiber bows, the one that should echo with most beginner and intermediate players is that it is unaffected by temperature and humidity, and it's robust in construction. For the price point, I am impressed with the manufacturing quality of this bow, as well as its weight distribution along the bow's length, which is just about as good as you'll get. The frog is comfortable to hold, and the horse hair is genuine and easily adjustable with a quality screw mechanism. I tend to like my bow looser, but I did try this bow tightened up quite a bit and it worked well in both tensions. The feel of the bow is good, with it nestling in the hand well.In playing, I was really impressed with the bow. On slower-bowed pieces, the bow felt solid and reliably, caressing the strings. On faster pieces, I could bounce it around without issue. In a couple of weeks of playing with this bow, I've been really impressed, especially considering the price point. Visiting my local instrument shop, I could find no bow that comes close to this one's quality and playability under five times the price of this. While it won't replace my regular bow, which cost many, many times what this one sells for, I will be using this Haoyue bow for a lot of practice, and will recommend it to friends looking for a well-designed bow for their instruments as they learn. If you're an advanced player, this bow won't be for you, but for beginner and intermediate players, it's a great bow. I'm impressed!
