Doesn't work
Bought this off a 'Lightning Deal'. I'm a diesel mechanic and I've tried and use the Snap-On borescope and a General Tools borescope. I thought this one might be fun since it's wireless and I can use my smart phone to record images and videos. It comes in a nice box. I charged it for a couple of hours using the supplied USB cable. The borescope end of the USB cable is 5V DC round plug so you can probably use a wall-wart that fits the plug as long as it puts out 5V DC. The unit feels like a cheap Made-in-China product (you get what you pay for!). The manual covers the basics but doesn't have any troubleshooting instructions. The rotary dial for turning it on is small and recessed making it slightly difficult to use if you have gloves on. The camera is large compared to some other borescopes. This one is just under 10mm which is too large for some applications (looking through fuel injector bores). Another borescope I use has a 7mm head which is more versatile. I downloaded the Android app for my Galaxy S4. It was easy to find and install. I followed the directions for setting up the WiFi hotspot and my phone connected to it quickly and easily. When you first turn on the unit...it takes about 30 seconds to connect (assuming you've already set it up the first time). Kind of slow but not a deal breaker. The same on/off rotary dial controls the brightness of the LED at the camera end. Then I open the app and press the "Image" button and the green 'iBorescope' icon fills the screen for about 20 seconds and then the app crashes and exits. This happens every time. I uninstalled the app and cleared data and tried again. No luck. I ensured that I'm connected via WiFi and I am. And I am a tech guy and am very familiar with computers and technology and gadgets. I'm not going to bother contacting the company or getting another. This is going back. It's a new product and I don't have time to be a 'beta tester' for Triplett. I have access to borescopes that do work and are much better made...I thought for the price, I would give this a shot. Too bad.

Not Hi Def
Easy to use, follow instructions, and it syncs to phone easily. Only claims to have a focal distance of 1' to 3", so with the tiny lens, I wasn't expecting too much. I used it in walls, above ceiling, and in ac ducts. Customer service is great. call them before buying with questions, they will honestly help you, they did me. They even sent me a replacement unit after 2 years.
