I'd buy these over ANY street/trail type MT out there for use off-road.
First of all, the 5-stars rating is meant to be understood as a rating for off-road use only. If you are considering this as a dual-purpose on-road/off-road tire, I'd rate it near the bottom of the scale. It is utterly horrible on-road. Roars like a C-141 at takeoff, you can feel every single lug hitting the pavement as it turns at slow-to-moderate speeds and, while I didn't push it in turns for obvious reasons, I'd wager that handling in either the wet or dry is abysmal and braking the same.But... people don't buy this tire for the road. It is a dedicated trail tire for me, used mostly in southeastern-Utah. It is superb in that environment. I run it on standard 16" steel wheels (not beadlocks) and run it at 7 pounds inflation with no issues so far. (I've used these for 11 full days off-road around Moab.) It's light (weght was 69 pounds when I received mine), it's compliant to rocks, it has phenomenal grip, it's wonderfully skinny for a big tire (no radials in this height are narrower than 12.5" -- this one is 11" at the widest part of the wall). It is advertised as 36" tall and by gosh, it's 36.0000" tall unmounted. Under the weight of my 2-door JK Jeep, with 25 pounds of pressure, it measured 35.25. I'd buy these over ANY street/trail type MT out there for use off-road.

Zombie apocalypse tire
This tire has one purpose; get you through anything. If you want anything else (nice ride, quiet, smooth, long lasting) this is not your tire.

Tree climbers
I have run these for years. On and off road. They are not super road friendly but roadable. Actually I ran these on my daily driver/ hunting rig all year. I wiped the center tread and if you know how to drive and your not a idiot, they will do good. They last a long time and even after the center wears down the side lugs pretty much get you where you need to go in the mud. So it's not a strictly off-road tire but not something for long trips either.
