A good replacement speaker choice for the Valve Junior combo amp.
Bought this speaker to replace the stock speaker in an Epiphone Valve Junior combo amp I bought and modified in 2007. Through other speaker cabinets i own, the modified amp sounds very good. The stock speaker in the stock cabinet, however, sounded way too “boxy” - it lacked any sparkle, as though there was a wet blanket over the amp.I’ve left this amp at my Church as a backup amp. Since COVID and for a year before, we’ve gone to a silent stage, using amp emulation via direct boxes. It occurred to me that I had a good, small footprint amp there for small grab-and-go situations if I could find a speaker that could handle the power and provide a less boxy, more even frequency response. This amp has a MDF cabinet, and is a dense brick, but it still has a footprint that works on a small stage. After researching relatively inexpensive alternatives, I decided to try a Jensen MOD 8”. I went with an 8 ohm speaker instead of the 4 ohm version, since the other cabinets I’d used successfully were 8 ohm cabinets as well. (I’d swapped the stock output transformer for a Hammond 125ESE that supports 4, 8, or 16 ohm operation.) That would permit me to add another 8 ohm cabinet, if necessary, and run the amp off the 4 ohm tap.The jury is still out on the results, but playing it this evening after swapping to the Jensen MOD yielded a much more balanced, much less boxy sound. As with any speaker, it will require a break-in period to fully evaluate the effect on the amp’s sound. I’m encouraged enough to post this review as a positive, at this point. I expect it will sound more open as more time for break-in passes.TL/DR: apparently a good speaker choice for the Valve Junior combo amp. Immediate improvement in sound for less than a $35 USD investment. It should improve more over time.

Great value for the money.
Pretty straight forward install. Difficulty only depends on the cab you are putting it into. Installed into a front facing style cab so it was unscrew old speaker and screw in new one. This speaker is well worth what you pay for. The sound is clear and chimey for clean tones and gives a great distorted tone when you turn up the heat. Not sure if this little guy could do hardcore metal sounds, but if that is what you are looking for then you are not likely looking at Jenson brand, or 8 inch speakers. Great replacement for small practice amp combos and cabs. I've owned 2 of these little monsters and will buy another the next time someone decides to put their foot through my speaker again.

What was missing from the practice amp.
Gave a decent amp new life. Loud and clear tone. Can’t go wrong with this speaker. Put it in my VHT.

Excellent amp speaker for the money
An excellent amp speaker for the money. I replaced the stock speaker in my Fender GDEC 15 watt amp - which came with a run of the mill 8" speaker. Once I installed the Jensen the amp had more clarity and the drum / bass patterns had more snap versus the muddy sound I used to get with the old speaker. If you are buying for a GDEC you'll need to drill two new holes for the bottom screws. The top two matched up but the bottom two were off a bit. No big deal. Highly recommended.

Sweeter & more "Fendery" sounding than the Jensen Green C8R8 in an open-back combo amp.
I purchased the Jensen MOD8-20 and the Jensen Green C8R8 at the same time to audition them both in a guitar amplifier. The amp is an up-modded Epiphone Valve Jr. (PS filtering, tone mods, upgraded output transformer, Genalex Gold Lion ECC83 pre-amp tube). The MOD8-20 gives a sweet clean "Fendery" tone with more bass, chimey mids, and sparkling highs that are not shrill. In comparison, the C8R8 is a tighter, "punchier" sound with less bass and clear "high-definition" mids & trebel (as one would expect from a ceramic magnet speaker). The C8R8 is now in an Orange 8" closed-back cab for my Micro-Dark where it sounds just right.

love this speaker!
got it to use in a Vox Pathfinder 10 that I've turned into a little project amp. been playing around with a bunch of mods/upgrades, and a new speaker was very badly needed. had to knock out some of the MDF inside to make room, but once it was in there, it made it sound like an entirely new amp. gave it a ton more bottom end and smoothed out the high end. i can get jazz tones or real gritty crunch & distortion on it. very versatile speaker, perfect for this little practice amp.
