Worked like a charm,wonderful
I had a lens with a fairly decent dent in the filter ring and threads meaning I couldn't use my filters or the lens cap. Last week I ordered this Lens vice which arrived the next day. It is fairly heavy and very well made so here goes. First I cleaned the lens threads with a brush and cloth and gave it a final clean with Isopropyl alcohol. I then put a very small pinhead sized blob of grease on the thread where the dent was and another opposite so the tool ran smoothly. I first used the small side of the tool and fitted it to the lens just outside the damaged area then turned the thread on the vice until it is a close fit. Then I turned the vice clockwise towards the dent so it just touched the edge of the dent. Next I turned the vice thread a bit tighter so it moved the damage a tiny amount.. I repeated this process on the opposite side of the dent, nice and steady. I kept doing this several times until the larger side of the vice would just fit inside the thread of the lens making sure the thread of the vice and lens are inline with each other. Now I tightened the vice a bit at a time and move the vice clockwise and anti clockwise until it ran smoothly around the whole of the lens and the dent had gone. I cleaned up the lens and carefully wiped it with Alcohol again then tried a filter and found it fitted on first time and turned round as smooth as silk. Beautiful. Get yourself one. Used to fix dented filter ring on OM Zuiko Auto-S 50mm (49mm thread)
This "Neewer Pro Lense Repair Tool" is a good solid product that allowed me to fix a 49mm filter ring that had taken a hefty bang was no longer usable to add even a basic skylight/protection filter. The process is a bit fiddly, and you must take your time and take care to use the best section of the tool to suit your need. I used the smallest part of the vice and as the dent was on the outer part of the 49mm ring. I kept it at an angle to put the pressure where needed on the top edge but without distorting the opposite side by using the full depth. While it does have a thread on the tool, I ran a metal filter ring around the lens filter thread a few times to ensure it was free and easy. The whole process took less than 15 mins - being extra careful. It's not the cheapest of tools but I'm happy with the price because of the build quality. There are similar cheaper versions out there but I cannot vouch for them. It's nature as a specific too to fix damaged lens filter rings means I will put it in the bag of tools that I hope I don't need again for a while, but will keep around just in case :-) - happy fixing.

So happy to give my lenses a second chance…
This is the perfect tool for repairing lenses and filters which have served me well, but have developed slight imperfections for various reasons. If you are worried about trying repairs yourself, check out Vintage Electronics Geek who gives a good demonstration using this very product! Twenty quid to repair your favourite lens is more than worth it!

Good quality tool
Really useful tool. I repair cameras for a source of extra income and this is definitely a tool to have to approach the task of lens repair. Stainless steel is of good quality and the tips make for a good fit!

Doesnt do its job
seems like an amazing tool sadly not only did it not help to fix my metal lens hood but it caused more damage. It's made of entirely metal so it will definitely scratch your precious lens. Missed the return window and now I am stuck with this useless tool.
