Painless installation
I purchased this card for a first generation 20" iMac G5. Installation is simple: release three captive screws at the bottom of the iMac, remove the back cover and pedestal, and insert the card into the retainer cage. The card plugs into a socket, plus it has an antenna cable. That's all there is to it.Once rebooted, the machine will automatically detect the card but it will not turn on wireless networking. If you are ready to connect to a network then it takes maybe a minute or two to turn it on and pick the wireless access point. The iMac is now at the opposite side of the house (brick, steel, concrete condo) and wireless performance with the D-Link WBR-1310 is great. Most new Macs already have an airport card, so this product is primarily aimed at people that own slightly older Macs with a built-in airport socket/cage. The price is really good, these cards retailed for $79 when they originally came out. And once you plug it in, it works forever, I am yet to run into somebody that has had an airport extreme card fail, not even DOA.

Excellent Service, Excellent Item, Easy Installation
This Airport was delivered super quickly via First Class Mail .. Seller was friendly and prompt! Installation for the AirPort was incredible. I have never opened up a computer or installed anything computer-related in my life, and this was a breeze. I downloaded the instructions from the Apple Site (Specifically my computer's year and make) and it popped right in. Airport worked right away without any problems and I get 4 BARS (All Full) of reception from our wireless network even though the hub is through the ceiling and on the other side of the house. Overall, I am extremely happy with the purchase and falling in love all over again with Apple's simplicities!

Works great
Breathed new life into my PPC PowerMac G5. If you're looking for a way to use your iOS device as a remote with an older Mac like I was, I recommend using the basic version of HippoRemote which doesn't require any downloads onto the machine which may be running too old of an OS to use that software. So, the wifi speeds certainly aren't AC or even N, but it's fine for basic wifi functionality and was extremely easy to install.

PLUG & PLAY!
I'm not a computer expert by any stretch, but I just stuck this in my old tower G5 PowerPC lickety-split like nothing. No tools necessary - not even to open the computer. Try it wearing mittens if you're looking for a challenge. Someone even made a quick video guide:youtube.com/watch?v=k63TuSnKgeAIt's no harder than sticking a game cartridge into your old Super Nintendo. Put the card in right-side-up so the round antenna plug is on the left. The antenna is already in the tower - it's one of the two black wires (the one with the metal plug) clamped up to the right of where the AirPort Card sticks in. (In the video, the wire is dangling on the left, but you won't get confused. It's not like there are a bunch of black wires everywhere!)When you turn on your computer and open your Network Preferences it'll recognize it, prompt you to apply the change, and ask for your wireless network & password. Done! - WiFi connect.

This was the wrong card for my computer. Cannot be rated by me. However I eventually bought bought the correct card and it works great! Install wasn't too bad just don't drop the screws

Our Apple G4 Needed Wifi
New house, new Wifi-capable Lexmark Pro905 all-in-one printer and new MacPro 15" laptop for my lovely wife demanded a wireless solution for our legacy G4 desktop. Sadly, Apple does not sell the Airport Extreme Card any more and research on Apple's support site shows AirPort base station does not work as an add-on extender with other wireless routers. Amazon and its partner fulfilled our need nicely for the card. While I find the AirPort Extreme Card top-rated for use, installation and reliability, I downgrade it for setup.I found nothing wrong in the technical set-up of the card itself, my downgrade is more of a concern with Apple's business approach that complicated my system integration. Specific beefs:1. My search of Apple's usually helpful support site identified the fact that Airport base station (which I purchased several months before without enough research--shame on me) will not play nice to extend 3d party routers such as the AT&T-supplied 2Wire in my new house. That's annoying! It's a network product that is supposed to help (not hinder!) connection of my local computing environment to physically distant environments. This complication lost stars for Apple.2. Searching the Apple store comes up with nothing to explain that Apple doesn't sell the M8881LL/A any more. This lost a star for Apple. GM went bankrupt but you can get parts for their products from their affiliated dealership parts departments! Parts inventories are expensive but I think Apple should sell the M8881LL/A in its own store and not allow information on this part to become difficult to locate. This additional complication detracted from my ease of integration into my home's pre-installed Wifi network infrastructure.3. I suggest Apple provide a video on its support site of the actual physical installation process for the M8881LL/A in legacy products. If Apple makes the decision to design compatibility for an older product, it should help the customer help himself. Not everyone has the $$$ or easy physical access to an Apple service store and Genius Bar.In the past, Apple has earned premium prices for its products due to ease of use through superior design. In my complicated experience attempting to upgrade my legacy G4 desktop, Apple tarnished its brand.

Awesome!
I bought this more than 2 years ago and installed it in my eMac and it still works just great. I was so happy when I found this because I looked everywhere and no Apple store sells this anymore and if they did it would cost at least $100

Airport Extreme Card
As my Apple computer starts to age and become discontinued, I thought I'd better get a backup wireless card before such parts are no longer available. Also, I'm in the market for a used Apple computer that will most likely need this type of wireless card and so I thought I'd better buy the Extreme card while they are still available. This type of wireless card is very reliable and very well made and my computers should be "wireless" for the rest of their life spans.
