I got this kettle because it promised no plastic in the lid. But there is plastic on the outer edge of the lid as well as other parts of the kettle. When the water boiled, the steam caused a strong smell of plastic in the inside of the kettle. In addition, after just one day of use, a rust spot appeared on the inside bottom.

Have to update review now that it started smoking and if I hadn't been right there, might have caught on fire. The on/off switch on the handle started burning/melting inside and might have caught on fire had I not been right there.I really liked it before and gave it a positive review, but expected it to last longer and not be hazardous.

So far I like it, but actually it’s early to say if it’s a good/bad product. I can add more about how I feel about this purchase later about 6 mos later...?

Great product! It boils fast and efficiently and is very easy to both use and clean.

Just purchased this for my wife, looks beautiful on the countertop. Love the large opening for cleaning.

When it arrived, it looked beautiful in my kitchen. We rinsed the kettle 3 times with boiling water first before drinking. Some people complained that there is still a small plastic part inside the kettle which might give some sense of plastic odor. We tasted the water and overall the water tasted very good without any odor of plastic or metal. We love it! Just hope that it won't break down too fast.

We've ordered this kettle because we were looking for a plastic-free kettle. The lid is actually perfect, as it is described in the add.But the whole water is boiling with the plastic (hard one and soft one) which is at the very bottom of the kettle (take a look at the picture). I smell plastic flavor in my tea. ((Furthermore, in the add, it is said that BPA free. But! Look closely at the booklet - there is nothing about BPA free, it is bAp free (I'm not sure what's that). So I'm disappointed and going to return this kettle.Update on January 2020.I've requested a return, but nobody answered me, unfortunately, yet.
