Theatre and Performance Design

It's a little all over the place but a good read for those interested in a very specific field. I wish it had more contemporary writings on scenography and theater design.

Express delivery. All was right.

My masters thesis (in Drama) examines scenography through a semiotic lens. This is the first book I have found in which every page, every chapter is rife with pertinent information. Additionally, as most of these are excerpts from contemporary works the papers are very readable. Perhaps the most important facet to review is that several of these papers were actually written by designers, as opposed to a theoretician looking in. I can't recommend this book enough for anyone wanting to delve further into questions of 'what is scenography', 'how has the miss-en-scene evolved', or 'how has scenic design evolved, and where might it be headed.'

Great collection of essays on theater, spectatorship, design in a theater. Could be more relevant to researchers rather than wide audiences unless one is quite interested in theatre.
