Plenty of embarrassing stimulus here.
The great thing about Bird’s book is that it serves the interests of such a wide range of abilities and in such an entertaining way. The number may be arbitrary in terms of the errors we all make, but it’s not just there to fit the number of cards, it’s very close to what most of us can readily assimilate, if not always practise. There are no pages of laborious exercises here, rather short pointed separate articles, admirably illustrated. It's a book to study, but also one to pick up in odd minutes and refresh the mind about all those mistakes we continue to make.

Does what it says on the cover
David Bird is a prolific writer yet manages to maintain a very high standard. I just wish there really are only 52 bridge mistakes to avoid! The book is well presented and very easy to read. Anyone mastering all the topics will become a very good player indeed. The book is divided into themes with a chapter for each. Everything is well explained. My only criticism is that when studying each hand what to be looking for has already been given away by the chapter heading. This is not a serious criticism but I do like to test myself before reading bridge text. The 'mistakes' cover both bidding and play and I suspect only an expert would derive no value from the book. It represent a useful but cheap addition to any bridge library.

Very Interesting Book.
Like this book a lot. Keep going back to it when I have time. Some of the mistakes are basic but most of them he shows can be made by Professional Players. I feel all levels of bridge players would find this book useful and helpful.Thoroughly recommend it.
