Great remote...I'm guessing
I purchased this remote for an older camera, the Olympus E-PL1. Unbeknownst to me, the E-PL1 is one of three models ever made by Olympus that cannot use a remote. I saw the E-PL2 and 3 on the compatibility list, and wrongly assumed that the seller had just run out of room when listing the models.I'm reviewing it anyway.Assuming that this remote is at least functional, it gets four stars. The button is springy and tactile, and it's easy to tell the difference between the halfway point to engage autofocus, and fully pressing the button for shutter release. The cord is long enough to be convenient, but not so long that it takes up a bunch of room or gets excessively tangled. The slide-lock (for bulb mode or for taking continuous photos) works well. Best of all, there are no batteries to keep up with, and it's a super simple interface that requires no instructions. My only complaint is that there is no secondary button for a timed release. Many other remotes have a second button for delaying the shutter release by 2 to 10 seconds. Yes, you can set the camera itself to do this, but it would be convenient to have that functionality on the remote, so that you didn't have to fiddle with the menus.Despite the product's incompatibility with my camera, I'm not returning it. For the price, I'll find somebody else who can use it.

easy to use - and reliable
Just used this a few weeks back for stargazing in Great Basin National Park (Nevada's one and only national park). Elevation 9K+ and near the town of Baker (pop 69). Worked like a charm. Plugged right into my Canon DSLR. Especially enjoy the lock feature so I don't have to keep my finger pressed on the button. Great product at a great price - thanks!

Nice Value in a Shutter Release
I needed a shutter release for my D600 for taking long exposure night shots. I don't do a lot of this photography so I didn't want to spend a lot or get something complicated. This model had good reviews, was a good value, and I had used other Pixel branded equipment before so I went with this one. It worked well for my needs. It was simple to use which was a big plus to me as the last thing I wanted was to be fiddling around with a shutter release in the dark while trying to capture a once in a lifetime shot. The release did what it was supposed to do. It was easy to use which was great because I was timing my shots for when cars were pulling up to an intersection and lighting p the rocks with their headlights. And it didn't cost a lot. I am glad to have this in my kit.

A great new version of a cable release
I can't believe this is only a fraction of what the same item from Nikon would cost and it works as well. I am very pleased with this purchase. The only thing you have to be careful about is putting the plug in the right way. If you look at the flat surface of the plug you will see that one side has a long groove in the metal. When you insert the plug into the camera, that side of the plug has to be on the right side of the plug. Push the plug in firmly and be sure the connection has been made before you start taking pictures for real. I am sure people will be very happy with this release.

Worked great!
Wanted to take some comet photos last month and found out my camera (Canon Rebel 350d) needs you to hold down the shutter for bulb setting and the camera says "optional" for the remote in the manual. Holding down the shutter for a minute with a finger was not the way to go. This remote worked great. This has a locking feature where you slide up the button so you don't have to hold the button the whole time.

Works great, especially at night!
This shutter release has been of great value, especially when shooting at night. The cord is plenty long and works well, with the one proviso that you have to take care not to lock the shutter when you don't intend to do so. I also have the AmazonBasics wireless shutter release, which is great for its purpose, but the wireless version doesn't work as well when you're behind the camera. This wired version from Pixel does its job especially well when you're taking long shots, such as of stars (the sky kind, not celebrities). A good product at a price much better than its name-brand competition.

Works so well with Sony A7
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Works so well with Sony A7. I was using Sony’s own smartphone app for remote control but it was lousy. I lost so many moment when I took pictures during fireworks. This remote control work just perfect. Some things have to be wired just to make sure things are happening.

Dashed hopes.
I'd hoped that this would work as other reviewers reported success. Upon receipt, I plugged it in to the Olympus OM-D M10 port. Camera tried to recognize it as a USB drive option instead of as a remote control. Olympus manual instructions just say to plug in the remote, no menu settings are mentioned. It seems that the unit lacks the programming to communicate with the camera. OK, maybe I missed something, but it's not worth returning. Deeper searches on Amazon show this unit is available from other sellers under separate listings. In one case 43% negative (1 star) reviews for similar problems.

Not very rugged
This item was purchased to supplement the camera equipment out team uses. We have got through two of these so far, the fitting into the camera has become detached from the cable leaving the fitting in the camera and the wire dangling. Used outdoors in extremes of temperature may be its downfall. The price is good, but if this one fails the same way, then we will have to look at another option.

Necessary for super-telephoto shots.
I found during the recent Blood Moon days, that my shots of the moon were blurred because of camera shake when pushing the shutter button. This remote shutter release corrects that problem

Costo-beneficio equilibrado
Es un producto muy básico y esencial. Costo beneficio equilibrado. Me gustó. Otros comentarios dicen que debería tener un botón de prendido y apagado pero siento que no es necesario. Tiene un botón se bloqueo y es útil.
