Safe T Alert 30-442-P-BL Classic Propane/LP Gas Alarm - 12V, 30 Series Flush Mount, Black

The product itself works fine..... but, as you can see in the picture, the unit was mfg in Aug of 2018. I just purchased in June of 2019 - meaning that i essentially lost almost an entire year of its 5 year lifespan.I needed it now, so i went ahead and installed it rather than return (not sure if Amazon has any newer, or if they are all setting on the shelf)

Beware! I purchased this because it appeared to be the same size as my original monitor in my Sprinter class B. I'm only giving it 2 stars because,....although it fit in the original monitor panel opening/hole,...the holes for the mounting screws were off by about 1/8". I ended up having to cut the end mounting tabs with cutters to turn the mounting holes into open ended slots,...so that the screws could be installed without drilling new holes slightly immediately next to the original RV panel mounting screw holes. I'm thinking that the size of these is surely standardized,....so, thinking someone screwed up during the design and manufacturing process. Unfortunately for me,...I didn't think to check the mounting screw hole position before my return window closed on this,....so now I have a hacked looking installation.

I had read some horror stories about these not fitting or being 2 years old and offering a shortened service life. Mine arrived with a Mfg date of September 2020 so no worries there. It mounted right in place of the old unit and the holes lined up perfectly. It was literally a plug-n-play installation. I only got 4 years out of my factory installed unit is it was already a year old when my RV was Mfg...this one will actually give me more service life...Woo Hoo!!!

Bought to replace the 13 year old unit. It was identical to the stock piece. Pretty straightforward install, just match the wire colors. It didn’t come with any crimp connections so grab a couple blue connectors and you’ll be good to go.

When i received the propane alarm, mine was still working so i did not open package immediately. When i decided to replace old alarm, i opened package and expiration date was December 2018, so it had expired before i purchased item.I went ahead and installed just to see if it still worked because they are supposed to be good for 5 years, however both green lights flashed repeatedly which indicates (per instructions), end of life. i will try to return directly to manufacturer--MTI industries.

Wired this in and it was the perfect replacement for the original. Did not come with the wire nuts so it was a major pain to find the right size, but works now.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We purchased and installed this alarm. The alarm kept sounding, therefore we thought there was a propane leak in the camper. We took the camper to the professional repair shop. It was determined there was no leak, just a faulty BRAND NEW alarm. Alas, a few days past the return window so I'm out the $58......

Very disappointed with this product. I purchased this in October and installed it in November. I have been using it less than a month and now have a false positive. This was confirmed by a friends portable propane detector. I will not purchase this product again.
