Must read for those involved in staffing churches
Excellent guidelines for dealing with Church staffing. Good explanation of difference between business's and church's while there are still similarities. Wish I had read section of dealing with challenging employees before my church went thru its challenging employees crisis

So much information
This book is billed as a resource for large congregations, but it is vital for any congregation that has employees. You will learn about management practices common in other realms that are relevant to congregations, and about issues that are special to congregations due to the Covenantal and relational nature of our shared ministry.

Helpful book
This was a helpful book. Written with a sensitivity to large organizations AND the work of the Church, Rendle can help heads of staff and personnel committees negotiate an appropriate balance. Offering both theory and practice, and both organizational and interpersonal analysis and advice, this book should be helpful to many working as heads of staff.

I first saw this book in the local library. After reading it, I purchased several copies for the pastors, executive director and spiritual care staff of our church. It provides valuable information on the differences between secular personnel issues and those involving a church. I would highly recommend this book to church leaders of medium to large size congregations.

Okay
Needed something to help my small church prepare a performance evaluation for our part-time pastor. This is geared more toward a larger church.
