We are suckers for great dialogue. Cleaver and whitty are quite a few laugh out loud moments.

A made at the time millennial nostalgia bomb
I'm a sucker for quirky romcoms, and this is one of them.In my own mind it really joins the likes of Nick & Norah's infinite playlist or Scott Pilgrim vs the World (novels) in hitting the zeitgeist of what millennials dreamt about their 20's being, even if none of us actually lived lives in anyway similar. As a bonus to doing this the comedic storytelling and the relatable performances of Radcliffe, Kazan, Driver, Davis, & Spall all lead to a very fun comforting watch for those nights in where you just want to remember how hopeful for the future you were when you were young.

I liked it so much I bought the DVD
I really liked this movie. It's probably more deserving of 3 stars but it felt greater than the sum of its parts. Meaning, there were things that could have been better such as Daniel Radcliffe's sister and son; neither really figuring out in the plot of the story, or how the end just sort of "fell into place" because it was clear they needed to end it. This probably could have been handled with a bit more grace but I bet someone was saying "we have to keep this under x hours" so let's wrap it up".Yet despite the flaws, I really liked/loved it. I loved the chemistry between the main characters. Their banter. There is a really nice scene on the beach between the female lead and her sister that goes to show not only does her sister have more personality than the movie lets on but that they have a good relationship. The main female lead (Chantry) is an animator. At times there are animated depictions of her in the movie. On one hand this was nice but it felt like they could have removed it and the film would not have suffered. They should have just added more for flavor and perhaps more insight into what was going on in her mind. There is "a thing" in writing that if you can remove something or remove a character and it does't really affect the work then it should be removed. However, this was a nice touch and more could have been done with it.If you want a decent Romantic Comedy with the type of ending that most people look for in a romantic comedy then this movie is one to see. It's certainly better than a lot of romantic comedies out there like the 21 dresses (or whatever it was called) or "When it Rome". which actually could have been better had better writers been involved. In any case this movie is sweet, some funny/amusing/clever dialogue, enjoyable/likable characters and other than the rushed feeling of the ending should be one to see for those who are a fan of this genre. As I said, I liked it so much despite its flaws that I purchased the DVD and felt compelled to write a review for others. since I never heard of this movie before I feel that "spreading the word" or at least giving someone who might like this type of movie a small nudge so they know to "come in the water is fine". Obviously it goes without saying that if you are on the fence regarding this genre then this movie isn't going to change your mind or give you some epiphany. If you are a bit of a romantic then it's well worth seeing.

Excellent little romcom
A cut above for b-grade romcoms. Unoriginal plot, ok story, a decent cast, and good chemistry, but it's the banter that makes this movie. Excellent verbal jousting throughout. A couple really funny moments.

Setup and Pay-off is key
This is labeled as a comedy, but most of it isn't comedic. However, the stuff that IS comedy is really well done. Well, outside of the slutty humor, which isn't bad it's just cheap and low-effort. It almost comes off as derisive, which is fine considering the movie isn't about getting off and justifying it.The true comedy comes from the setups and the pay-offs. I can't even give examples, because they are all good and it would genuinely spoil the more enjoyable parts of the movie. I don't leave long reviews on stuff I really like. The acting is superb, the dialogue is more realistic and varied than it needs to be (and that is not a bad thing). The conversations are ridiculous, but they serve a purpose. None of the characters are perfect, but really none of them are irredeemable or wholly unlikable. It's a realistic look at how messy attraction and love are, and how messy people are (both internally and externally). There are almost no activist teaching moments in the movie (just one, and it was ridiculous enough that it can't be taken seriously). The pacing is good, the cinematography is good. The artwork sucks, but it's unimportant. They didn't focus on it at all, thankfully. The movie would have been less weird without it, but it doesn't suffer for having it.... I highly recommend this movie. Wish Radcliffe would do more like this.

Cute, quirky love story
Thus movie was entertaining and kept me rooting for the love story to develop. Even the closing credits tell a good story. I enjoyed it.

Butterflies vs. Full Moons vs Sandwiches
Basically, this movie has the same feel as the movie "Fault in our Stars" but for young adults in their mid 20's but really meant for a 16-year-old. This movie struggles to make itself the modern day "When Harry Met Sally," but falls far short as it tries to tell the story of a serious relationship topic and sprinkle it juvenile antics and sub plots that really have nothing to do with the theme such as the loss of the main character's mother from years past. They desperately try to bring the charters together in situations like running into each other while both attending the movie, "The Princess Bride" by themselves at a movie theater, at night, on a weeknight, in the middle of Toronto, like that would ever happen. The writing in this movie was cliche, predictable, and a bit of a trainwreck. Yes, What If is an OK date movie if you are 19, for people in their mid 20's I think they too would be saying WTF and anyone over 35 would just ask themselves "'What If' I turned this off and got a pizza right about now;" The answer is they would have a much more satisfying experience then watching "What If." Finally, What If had its chance of being good but bad casting, unneeded antics and sub plots, and no real character development just killed this movie. A rental for sure, a one-time rental at best.

Really funny film. I
Really funny film. I watch it with my two teenage children, who amongst other things are real film critics and not easily pleased. I thought they would not enjoy it as much as me, but they did, we laughed out loud.
