Practical Method of Italian Singing : New Edition - Mezzo Soprano or Baritone

The Vaccai Practical Method of Italian Singing teaches pitch, relationships of pitches, sight-singing, accuracy, and Italian. It's a great teaching and learning tool.

I used Vaccai a million years ago when I took opera lessons for 8 years, and just ordered a copy for my son, who is starting voice lessons soon. I went on to earn a music degree, and did extremely well on the dreaded Wednesday sight-singing test required of all music majors. We took these tests every week for 3 years, and I know the reason I did so well is because I practiced Vaccai with devotion! Each piece focuses on a different interval, and trains both the ear & the vocal mechanism just how far to jump.For a technique book, the melodies are delightful! The accompaniments are boring, but anyone wanting to learn to sing their intervals with exactness will benefit from this book.

There are cheaper versions on Amazon of this great vocal method book. Don't spend extra on this one expecting a cd of accompaniments because there's no cd included. Very disappointed.

As a former professional opera singer, I found that this has good vocal exercises. Also, very important, it drills the singer on intervals, which are most important for sight reading music.

Vaccai...perfect for starter singers. Gets them into the right way of singing right away if you aren't belter singers. Those who are getting or are classically trained need this book in their library.

Goo for working the voice with Bel Canto Italian exercises.

A brilliant set of exercises

This book is going to be a a well used text book used in conjunction with my singing teacher. I know I am going to be pushed in 2014.I guessed when I bought this & would have liked to have had more information about the contents.
