Heady Reading, but Foundational
This paper is a highly intellectual and theoretical writing on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. I had to re-read certain parts, highlight, and take time to make practical associations so that I felt I understood. However, it is precisely that challenging reading that I find stimulating. This is a foundational explanation of the theory of motivation. It explains how only upon the satisfying of the prepotent need does the importance of the next need emerge. It also offers some clarifications. For example, depending on the person’s health (psychological, physical, etc.), some needs considered basic are not in the order as presented. Because I am one who is interested in understanding motivation, I found this article helpful. If you are one who studies goal setting or is a goal setter yourself, it will give a different perspective of why you set the goals you do.Overall, this is probably not on everyone’s “must read” list, but it is a good primer on perhaps what is the most known theory of motivation - Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

Fundamental to Maslow's work
This brief 1943 Abraham Maslow monograph is reprinted here and is well worth reading. It is not to be considered a "cheat-sheet" to the considerable work of the psychologist, but it does introduce his "hierarchy of needs" from which so many other fundamental concepts are derived. This makes it a fine and cost-effective place to begin. This version was produced as a facsimile and does not use OCR technology.

Brief Review of Original Theory Beginnings
An essential classic! This reprint of Maslow's first published article on human motivation provides cogent insights into the author's original intentions and interpretations of his well-known hierarchy of needs pyramid so often discussed and too often misrepresented. This early version gives the author's honest portrayal of the strengths and limitations of his famous theory, while also including his intentions and initial motives for developing his theory. Although some psychological terms and phrases might be outdated or out of favor, the seminal usefulness makes it an essential read for students and practitioners of human motivation and behavior.Worth reading several times for it clarity and brevity, it will enhance your ability to understand, explain, or apply these concepts to your own needs or interests. A classic!

Great "paper"
This was an excellent paper from about 1943 (put in book format) written by Maslow outlining his developmental theory. It provided clarity over what you read in text or from others about his developmental theory. As a College psychology professor, I really enjoyed the book and the clarity that I got from it. The References are a whose who in early Psychology. I strongly recommend this "paper".

It's short, sweet, and to the point.
It's short, sweet and to the point. It's 15 pages long, but filled with some valuable ideas. I knew some background on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, but it was good to read the original publication. The ideas have definitely found their way into my worldview.I'd recommend this to anyone in search of a higher understanding of himself or herself or others.

A good book!
I like the fact that Kindle makes this book easy to read. When I got to words I didn't understand or couldnt pronounce, the dictionary feature helped a bunch. The book explains why humans have motivation and compares the different needs that we have that drives motivation. Furthermore, I was able to listen to the audio book version of this title via Youtube and follow along with the text on Kindle. I gave it 5 stars because it was a very interesting read and I will use this book as a reference when I write psychology papers in the future on this topic!!

Great content, cheap binding
To be honest, I should have expected what I got for this price. It contains Maslow's complete 1943 paper, no complaints there. The cover, however, is flimsy like a cheap business card, and bound with staples like a pamphlet (no author or title on binding). Great read, but I wish I had shelled out a few extra bucks for something more durable I could stick in my bookshelf and be able to locate.

It is a must read
I was initially very disappointed as I was expecting a book not a 36 pages paper. I thought I could finish it in half an hour but it is a heavy book. I needed more time to digest each page. It helps you to see where you have unmet needs in the pyramid. It is well worth reading.

Small but powerful
This is a great book to learn about motivation and leadership, It is quite small in size but has a lot of useful information inside.

It's essentially a reprint of an academic paper, so ...
It's essentially a reprint of an academic paper, so is very short (pamphlet length), not a book. But for those who frequently encounter discussions of Maslow's hierarchy in their work or academic environment, it's worth a read. There are subtleties here that are lost in the modern glib "mentions in passing" of Maslow's work.

Not worth it.
it was more like a pamphlet than a book. Would not buy again.

Not sure
bite size book but a bit misleading when it comes to copyright. It looks like it's published through Amazon instead of Wilder Publications inc it mentions. No sign of this booklet on their website and the layout looks very similar to Amazon booklets I had done...
