Packaging is HORRIBLE! Have returned THREE of these!
I am not an experienced power saw purchaser or user. This is the first real power tool / saw I have purchased anywhere. I chose Amazon for the best price.I have received 3 of these and have sent them all back. The First: The box looked a bit torn up from the start. I opened the box, took the saw out and before I ever turned it on, I noticed that the grip on the handle was broken (possibly a dent/damage from shipping?). Since I am paying $480 dollars for this tool, I want it to be pristine, so I requested an exchange. I am a Prime Member and so some back and forth has not cost me anything, other than tape and some printed pages. No big deal . . .The Second: Came quickly . . . I called and asked for overnight shipping due to the first being damaged and Amazon obliged. The box was in much better shape, but the saw had issues again. I noticed some "teeth" marks on the plastic in the spot where the saw blade is supposed to drop down when lowering the blade all the way to cut. Looked like an alignment issue . . . again, not interested unless I am getting a "perfect" saw out of the box. I sent it back, asked for a "third time's a charm" replacement and again, Amazon obliged with overnight shipping. The Third: Again, came quickly . . . but this box looked torn to shreds . . . surprised there was actually a tool in there. This saw had the same issue as the second . . . "teeth marks" where the blade is supposed to drop down cleanly. I am pretty sure I am giving up . . . I am in process of sending this one back as well and just asking for a full refund. Before I send it back, I am purchasing one from a local vendor and going to compare side by side. I am going to have a friend of mine take a look with me to make sure I am not crazy (he is a professional craftsman and woodworker). The one I am buying locally is the C10FSH (the model prior to this C10FSHFPS on Amazon). The local retailer I am buying from said he spoke to his Hitachi Rep and was told the C10FSH was made in Japan but the C10FSHPS is made in China. Either way, Amazon may need to think about a better way to ship these.I will say the Customer Service has been amazing! I hold no ill will toward Amazon, other than the possibility that they need to figure out a better way to protect the product to ship it. I will try to follow up to confirm that all worked out well and I received my full refund.Good luck!

Why did I wait so long!?
Been in the business for over 40 yrs. Always used Makita because of light weight and compactness, but what was wrong with me!! I never got Hatachi before because they didn't appear to have a solid locking mechanism that seemed accurate.Boy was I wrong. I bought this saw right before a job of cutting a lot of solid oak 1x8+ box beams. My Makita would always bog down and always seemed to have issues getting perfect 45 degree bevel cuts. (I know many times its slight variables in the wood) But this baby sails through (With a good blade) Another reason I waited so long is that this saw doesn't have the bells and whistles which I really like, but, I like straight smooth cuts more! And this was my first sliding saw that has zero blade wobble! All my other saws did, what the heck!? And that is what makes the difference plus its more powerful for some reason, no bog if you cut correctly. And it's very light and compact compared to maybe a Dewalt. It did come with a couple of cracked pieces that don't effect the performance, I just couldn't wait for another one. It's been a year now. Although if you cut a lot of rabbets, the blade adjustment for this sucks. It's a screw you have to back out and screw back in each time you change, but again, I'll sacrifice that for beautiful straight miters any day. btw Makita's 60 & 80 tooth blades for these saws are really good! And very reasonably priced.

DO NOT BUY FROM DAMLOW PRICES!!!!!!!
This machine is a workhorse. I have 3 in my shop and they get used a lot!I have no complaints about the machine. HOWEVER, DAMLOW Prices is a real B@$#%%#@ to work with. The first order from them arrived badly beat up. UPS must have used it to play a little football! The main handle on the saw was mulitated. I immediately contacted DAMLOW. Oh yeah, we will take it back, but you have to pay for the shipping back to us. After weeks of getting nowhere, I built a wooden crate at my expense and shipped it back at my expense. They eventually refunded my purchase price, but not the shipping charges.I will never buy from them again. There is a reason why their prices are so low - BECAUSE THEY SELL CRAP!!!!

Best in class.
As a professional trim company we have 6 of these saws in use. If you take care of them (don't bang them around in the back of your truck or trailer) they will last for about 6-7 years of continuos professional work use before the bearings wear out. They fit and finish on these newer models isn't as good as the saws that were made in Japan but it is fine. Everything else is about the same quality. They hold zero eternally and the rails are solid affording you a very clean cut. I wish they still made them in Japan but it is what it is.

ehh...
Upon arrival the saw handle was broken. The slide stop knob was also loose from factory so i believe the saw probably slammed something more than once. The castings are not as clean as the older japanese made C10FSH, but i never checked saw for accuracy considering it was broken. I returned saw and paid extra for the japanese made C10FSB without laser. i really wanted the laser because i have used the original FSH, but i would rather have accuracy and build quality.

Best cut you can get on a sliding compound miter saw.
There are some features I like on other saws but . . . overall, this is the best saw I have ever used. I have bought & used lots of other brands/models but this is still my favorite-I think this must be the 3rd one just like it I have purchased. I especially like the quality of the cut.

Was delighted with the accuracy right after the purchase
I work as a carpenter. I use a saw every day. Was delighted with the accuracy right after the purchase. Now I'm strongly razacharovan. For the year had to repeatedly adjust the fence, and angles. The fence is very thin and constantly bends when transported (which never happens to my Dewalt). Already there is a crack on the handle.

but the saw is the best for trim
The plastic itβs a pour quality so you need to be carefuly, but the saw is the best for trim!

It is easy to use
It is easy to use, not heavy. I think is one of the best miter saw in market for trim working and Hitachi after sale warranty is great.

The best saw on the market!
While I think this saw was previously sold to someone else.Even at the greatest price I still have some suggestions. The box came terribly beaten up, It was also according to the labels a repack and previously sold to someone else. It was rejected because it had a very defective handle which I chose to have repaired under warranty instead of all the bother of shipping it back and even risking not getting another saw! I was not risking that! You can thank me later! Much to my surprise it came from Delta (Vancouver) instantly because everything that close is over night! But from there I think 81 dollars shipping was steep. Across the country sure, but 30 miles ( likely less) at most it strikes me as High.I thought in today's age charging actual shipping would be well with-in your capabilities and how things worked and were originally calculated! But maybe you knew it was coming from there and did charge accordingly. I could easily get a quote from my U.P.S. account. It was left at the door so I do not know who you used. Of course it depends on how you pick the number out of a hat or by actual shipping quote. As you can see by the fact I would rather have it repaired because I do not like the confrontation of complaining, I can not handle problems with people. I was disappointed to see a beat up repack but if the price was right I would still use Amazon again. I just hope it turns out better. Bringing the saw into town and waiting all that time takes all of the excitement temporarily out of it. I registered the warranty as fast as I could and waited a few days before bringing it into the city. I still worried they would not fix it,but that is just me. But it works and it is wonderful all problems aside! I hope future purchases go better. Thanks for taking this time, I hope someone actually reads it! I am an old fart so I am an internet buyer in training. Have a great day! Thanks Carl Svendsen
