Works Fine
Used it to add an optical port to my PS4 Slim. I almost returned it. I hooked it up and I wasn't getting any PS4 picture at all. This thing is supposed to be plugged into something for power but there was no power adaptor, only a USB cable. If this thing does not have a power source, nothing that goes through it will work. If you own a PS4 Slim, you will know there is only one USB port. This was already being used by my Arctis Pro Headphones, so what to do? I finally looked on the back of my cable box and there was a low power port in the back that would fit a USB. I attached the USB cable to this unit and into my cable box, and suddenly the PS4 sprang to life. The jury is still out as far as video quality is concerned, whether this unit affects the PS4 video quality. However, it seems to be working fine now. I just wish a DC adaptor would have been included for traditional power hook up.

Does not export native audio
Perhaps I misread the description or something is wrong, but this device will not export native audio (sound from the TV / TV-installed app) to a soundbar via optical output. My connection is as follows:No HDMI inputs to the TV.TV audio connected to this audio extractor from HDMI-ARC port (TV) to HDMI input port on extractorOptical cable (output from extractor) connected to Vizio soundbar. We've configured most every setting we can think of on all devices (TV, soundbar, switches on this extractor) and no sound is extracted.Disappointed because all we want is to control sound volume with the same remote as the TV. Device otherwise appears solid but cannot evaluate performance beyond this one configuration. If there's an error on our part or we misinterpreted the capabilities of the device, we'll update the review accordingly.

I'm an audio snob now I guess
I've always used the headphone jack on my PC for listening to music for as long as I've owned a PC, Laptop, etc. But I've reached a point where I use my headphones so much that I decided to spend a few bucks to get a nice audio solution. I saw the "Schiit stack" on Linus Tech Tips and I wanted to give it a try. I've never used the SDPIF connector on anything before I just kind of know what it does, but fiber optic does wonders for ethernet, so why not for audio right? I just got finished hooking this baby up not even 15 minutes ago, I got all the power in and turned on...turned on some music to test it...and I just about broke down in tears. The sound quality is fantastic, and I'm kicking myself right now for just using my headphone jack and accepting it all these years.

Randomly cuts out left channel when fed from an Apple TV Gen 3
For sound quality, would rate it a 5 star. For Amazon's ease of return policy, a 10 star. For product dependability, a 1 star.Had to return it within 2 days of buying it since the left channel would keep cutting in and out of audio randomly. An Apple TV Gen 3 was used, and this was feeding analog into the RCA inputs in a Yamaha AS701 integrated amp with digital inputs. Doing blind A/B, I don't think this DAC was better than the Yamaha's internal DAC which is high quality.Decided to switch to the AudioQuest Dragonfly v 1.2 instead though I really wanted to keep this! Schiit is a great company with great products and perhaps I got a defective unit. Too bad - also, the Tolink input socket has a lot of play so it never felt like my high quality cable fit snugly.

Perfect for my application
I wanted something that would let me split the audio from my surround sound tuner. This does the trick. Video passes though unnoticed. Audio is siphoned off to 2 channel, although there is the possibility of 5.1. I transmit the audio across the room to a headphone amp and now my wife doesn't have to complain about how loud the TV is.

Design defect
I bought this device to replace one that looks identical from another vendor. The devices both have the same problem where they drop or change color. Reboot clear the issue but it's an annoyance. I have a Roku stick going in and output to a monitor. The screen looks like it's dropping a blue channel, you see the screen backgrounds looking pink

Good quality audio & Video splitter..!!
The overall build quality of the splitter is good. Easy to connect and works well. Could find much drop in the video and audio quality. It would be better if an adapter was provided with the product.

Works great, when it works...
Worked great for the first couple weeks, now the signal cuts out from the roku intermittently. Tried new cables, no change, eliminate the box and signal is flawless but no audio to the soundbar then. Gonna try a different brand
