Good book for a new flyball handler
I just started training my dog at flyball over the summer, so I am sure this influences my opinion of the book, since I am pretty much it's target market. If you're an experienced competitor there are probably things you do differently or might disagree with, as with every dog training book ever. That said the book opens with a nice history of flyball, and state of the art sort of section and then moves into training; providing a nice breakdown of all the components, and ways to start teaching them. The author actually says towards the end of the book that there are "Remember that there are usually ten different ways to train each skill in flyball, so if something doesn't work with your dog, try a different method." I found this particularly cheering as the team I am working with has some strong opinions on training and not all of them work very well with my dog.The book also has some chapters on structuring practice, and what to expect at a tournament. While I have learned a bunch of this from having a flyball team to work with it's great information and provided an awesome view into how some other teams perform the same tasks. If you were starting from complete scratch I think with this book and information available on the internet you could probably build a flyball team in your area without benefit of an experienced person.I am actually planning on sharing this book with my teammates in hopes that some of the more modern training ideas might stick.

Most Up-To-Date Book On Flyball You Will Find
Dispite being around for over 20 years, Flyball is still the newest dog sport on the block. Not everyone knows about, and it can be hard to find current information. The sport has gone through major changes during its lifetime, and major improvements have been made in equipment and training methods to increase safety and reduce strain on the dogs. This book includes all of the newest information you won't find in the older flyball books, or by searching websites and blogs that haven't been updated in years. It also inludes lots of full color photographs and is a quick read.I recommend this book to everyone looking to get into the sport of flyball, or who has been around for a few years. There is also good information for someone looking to start or take over a club.Excellent book.

Not for me
I'm sure the book is great but this is a lot more involved than I really want to be

Amazing
Lisa is an expert when it comes to flyball. Not only has she written the first flyball book in the last 15 years she has written numerous articles for Dog Sport magazine. She also has a blog dedicated to flyball. I bought this book and loved it. It has something for any flyball enthusiast to read. New people will find it especially helpful as it will tell you stuff that pros just forget to talk about. I have been doing flyball for 6 or 7 years now and I found it to be very informative.

Great book for those interested in starting a flyball team
Since I am already playing flyball, this was a bit too wording for me, but for someone just starting this would be a great book. I bought it as it was recommended to me as a way to back-track a little to work on some of the "bad" things my dog was doing--like running around the jumps rather than over. I found the book to be a great way to see what I had been doing wrong.

Fun and full of information!!
I found this book to be full of great information that I can understand. I've played flyball for nine years and I still learned some new things about the game and training. I think it is a wonderful resource for people to share with new team members. And it will be a valuable resource for those who have had more experience. I highly recommend it! Thank you for writing it.

New to flyball
Being relatively new to flyball, I found this book contained everything I need to know to avoid feeling like a numb skull, during competitions!

Josef (josi) KollerTrainer Flying Devils Tirol
