Wonderfully Written and Drawn
Hit 1955 is the first installment in a wonderful series that is being built by Bryce Carlson and Vanessa Del Rey. I found the art visually stunning. It really brought out the atmosphere and mood of the 50's L.A. crime scene. I found the story very interesting and original, considering this is a time period that has been done a few times in books, television, and movies. The characters stay with you and the end leaves you wondering what happens next.

...Noir LA Style...
...terrific from the beginning...graphics combined with plot...excellent...a noir ride with twists and surprises a la Raymond Chandler...LA relives it's sinister past...

Warning: The story and art are great. Book itself sucks.
Owned for two whole days before the thing fell apart like crumb cake. Who do you pay to put your books together, Boom? A building contractor in Bangladesh?

Breathe Deep That Lucky Strike
So ya wanna know `bout Los Angeles back in the day, eh? Well it ain't all glitz and glam Hollywood would have you believin'. HIT proves this. The creators grab you by your lipstick-smeared lapels and shove you into the mean streets of Sunset Blvd. This is Noir, guys and dolls--not some dandified, Mickey Mouse crime comic. If ya can't handle blood and grit, go back to ole Walt's nascent theme park amongst the orange orchards. This graphic novel packs a punch in story and artwork. It's got good cops, bad cops; gangsters and amateurs; buxom blondes and all sorts of wrong. Not to mention, historical characters and settings play a role in the nuanced, provocative story arc. Danger abounds, so be sure to have a .45 handy along with what guile you possess. Cuz the story's so good, those dark alley footsteps you're reading `bout may just seem to be approaching from behind. And don't forget to take a long drag of that Lucky Strike, cuz it may be your last cig...
