Great movie
To me beats Lethal Weapon big time. Lot of great black humor. Great ensemble cast. Don’t bother watching the Directors Cut which is horrendously awful.

Crime Film That's Treated Like It Committed A Crime!
Okay, I get it. Mel Gibson said some things while drunk, that didn't go over well with Hollywood. He admitted as much and apologized for saying them. But to make his films not as readily available as they were before his drunken rant, is not fair! He has made some memorable films. .and when he was big box office....no one in Hollywood complained at all, with the exception of "Passion Of The Christ" ..which was a personal statement for Mel. Payback was handled wrong from the start, but it has its fanbase. The theatrical and director's cut have been hard to access in the US. Why? Is this Mel Gibson's punishment for walking his own path...and not having to kiss the rings of Hollywood to produce his films? Thank goodness Payback can be yours. .even if you have to go international to get it!

One of my favorites
The theatrical version is great! It's just too bad it has to be paired with the director's cut. Years ago I bought the director's cut, thinking it would be like most other director's cuts. WRONG!!! I watched it and immediately threw it in the trash. It is AWFUL. When I played this movie it played a very small version. I couldn't even see it. I just turned it off and left it. The next day I turned it on and it played perfectly. I was so happy

Mel Gibson is Back and Better Than Ever in Payback - A Classic Revenge Thriller
As a fan of the classic action-thriller genre, I was excited to watch Payback, starring the legendary Mel Gibson. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.Right from the opening scene, you can tell that this movie is going to be a wild ride. The gritty, noir-inspired cinematography perfectly sets the tone for the dark and violent world that we're about to enter. And Gibson's performance as the anti-hero Porter is simply outstanding. He brings a level of intensity and raw emotion to the character that is both captivating and chilling. The story itself is a classic revenge tale, but with enough twists and turns to keep things interesting. The pacing is tight and fast, with each scene building on the last to create a sense of escalating tension and danger. The supporting cast is also excellent, with standout performances from Maria Bello, Gregg Henry, and Lucy Liu.One thing that really stood out to me about Payback is its sense of style. The movie is filled with unique and memorable moments, from the jazzy soundtrack to the use of black and white flashbacks. It's clear that the filmmakers put a lot of thought into every aspect of the production, and the end result is a movie that is both stylish and satisfying.Of course, it wouldn't be a Mel Gibson movie without some intense action sequences, and Payback delivers on that front as well. From shootouts to car chases to hand-to-hand combat, the action is brutal and visceral, and it's all anchored by Gibson's powerhouse performance.Overall, I would highly recommend Payback to anyone who enjoys a good revenge thriller. It's a classic example of the genre, elevated by the incredible performance of Mel Gibson and the stylish direction of Brian Helgeland. So, if you're looking for a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, look no further than Payback.
