Moleskine Classic Notebook, Soft Cover, Large (5" x 8.25") Plain/Blank, Black, 240 Pages

This notebook looks great and is a nice size because it's not as small as most of the Moleskine notebooks I've seen (seemingly intended to be pocket-sized) but still small enough that you are not carrying around a full-fledged notepad.The page size is enough to take substantial notes while still being more portable than something that is 8.5/11".The only downside I can think of is that the pocket on the back flap does not seem to be large enough to accommodate the pages of the notebook itself without folding them. This doesn't seem to be a big enough deal for me to give it four stars instead of five, but could be annoying if you don't want to fold your pages to have them fit. It could also not be an issue if you solely use the rear pocket for smaller pieces of paper.I gave it to someone who just started a media internship and she really loved it, five stars just for that.

Great size. Good quality. handy. Like the plastic guide. Expensive, but I like. Hard to find nice flip up (vs side opening like a book) -- so these are very nice.

As a designer I take very seriously the look, feel and finishing quality of about everything around (and even more when getting things for myself). And found Moleskine just the best sketch and note books on the market. Even it's just for personal use, Moleskine delivers a high quality presentation look.The size is great for a carrying notebook, but if you have "bigger ideas" in mind or just can't help yourself writing down your notes in a few lines I'd suggest going with the EXTRA LARGE books.Said all, it's a Moleskine!

I purchased this notebook to use as a group trip journal for a trip I'm taking with friends and it's perfect! It's just the right size to allow for easy writing and easy packing. We are using is in a "landscape" orientation to make it easier to do some drawing as well as writing.

It's just a teensy bit bigger than I would have liked. The five-inch width makes it just a bit harder to squeeze in a pocket. Otherwise, it is very easy to write on with any pen or pencil. Also lends a classy air to its user.

For wannabe novelists and screenwriters like me this is a handy way of keeping notes.It is not pocket sized (unless your anorak, like mine, has large pockets) but there again small note books don't really do the job when you need to write down plenty of material.This is big enough to get most stuff down but is smaller, and more convenient, than an A4 pad. There are times, like when meeting the writing group down the pub, when table space is limited and then something smaller than A4 is preferable.The quality of the paper is upto the job too for smaller nibs (0.7 mm) at least. I couldn't say whether or not larger nibs (1.0 mm) and fountain pens would blot through. Also, there is plenty of pages too.Works almost as well as an A4 pad, but easier to walk around with.I have also tried the hardcover version. The soft cover version is easier to shove into a coat pocket and more comfortable when walking around. Otherwise the two are basically identical.
