This set of notes looks like a book from the outside, but it lacks certain attributes of a real book. There is no ISBN, only a copyright notice. It's highly repetitive, badly organized, and even shorter than the 38 pages would seem to indicate, since the pages are small and the print is large. There is no index. The poor grammar shows a lack of competent proofreading.The introduction begins as follows: "Thank you for taking the time to download ..." A competent writer would have replaced this ridiculous statement by something like the following: "This book originated from a set of notes ...".On page 20, it says incorrectly: "... if you would like to go ... to the directory ... above, you can just type in "cd" ....". In reality, it's the command "cd .." that will go back to the parent directory.Page 21 end with the sentence fragment: "... you need to outline exactly what you would like to do to ensure".In short, this set of notes isn't worth buying.

This guidebook provided all the information that anyone needed to start using the command line on computer.I have got the understanding of what command line was, how to open up the terminal to get started and some essential commands that i can use inside the terminal to open and close files, to trouble shoot and also to personalize the way i needed to.The author has described everything in a precise and easy way so anyone would find them easy to understand and follow to do the same easily.

I read it quicker than I thought. These are basics of MacOS command line and MacOS terminal. I am interested in customizing my Mac, troubleshooting etc. This is a fresh one to start when you are just noobs.

Nothing of any substance in this "book". No useful examples, screenshots or detailed instructions. You'd have probably learnt more by opening the Terminal app on your Mac and typing random characters.

Unlike other books, this book helped me to understand what the command line is in layman's terms.

I would have liked some illustrations to go with the text descriptions. I was also looking for some commands oriented to cocoa pods.

This is over simplified and so abbreviated as to be practically useless. I expected a list of commands, modifiers to commands and examples on how to use them. It was not there.

Auf meinem Mac ist ein Fortran Compiler installiert. Zur Ein- und Ausgabe von Daten öffnet dieser die Anwendung “Terminal” von selbst. Ich muss also nicht wissen, wie und warum “Terminal” funktioniert, was sehr praktisch ist. Ich weiß aber auch aus eigener Erfahrung, wie machtvoll “Terminal” in der Hand eines Profis zur Lösung ernsthafter Probleme ist. Also wollte ich mir einen Einstieg in die Geheimnisse von “Terminal” verschaffen und kaufte daher dieses Buch.Leider ist der Text eine Enttäuschung ! Der Autor wiederholt sich oft in der Beteuerung, wie wunderbar “Terminal” sei. Aber ich als interessierter Laie erfahre an keiner Stelle des Buches, warum das so ist. Der Text liest sich, als habe der Autor fast identische Textbausteine aus verschiedenen Veröffentlichungen für die gedruckte Ausgabe hintereinander geschaltet, ohne die Endfassung zum Schluss einer kritischen Durchsicht zu unterziehen.Besonders ärgerlich ist Kapitel 7 “Basic File Management” (Seite 26-27). Da wird erklärt, wie man mittels “Terminal” Files löscht, kopiert, und von einem Ordner in einen anderen tut. Alle drei Operationen lassen sich auf der vertrauten Grafik-Oberfläche des Mac viel eleganter, übersichtlicher und schneller lösen. Nicht umsonst ist ja der Mac berühmt für seine geniale intuitiv zu verstehende Benutzeroberfläche. Meine laienhafte Reaktion auf dieses Kapitel: “Was soll der Quatsch?”.Fazit aus meiner Perspektive:Als Einstieg in die Geheimnisse von “Terminal” ist dieser Text vollkommen ungeeignet und nutzlos.

Pessimo acquisto. Vabbè che costa poco, ma non ti dice nulla che 5 min. spesi online possano chiarire.Se siete alle prime armi con il terminale non vi spiega nulla se non ripetere tre concetti base per tutte le 37 pagine del libro, se invece il Terminale lo masticate un po’ come nel mio caso è totalmente inutile. Soldi mal spesi.
