Math Girls 2: Fermat's Last Theorem
L**M
Another entertaining and educational story of discovering joy in math
Math Girls 2 does not start off at the relatively difficult math level that the first Math Girls book left off, but rather introduces a new younger character starting off with even more basic math to set up for the end goal of the book: a whirlwind tour of the math contributing to the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem. Most high school students should be able to follow all of the math through about 2/3 of the book, and should pick up some new insights along the way as the characters work through their confusion. Pulling the story along nicely for those who already know the math is the same awkward Japanese-style school romance thread between the protagonist and the young ladies around him.For the more mathematically mature student, the final chapters will prove a good test of your knowledge for anyone at less than basically a full major in math.As with the last book: highly recommended if you have an interest in math, and especially if you also enjoy Japanese culture.

However this book is pretty easy to understand and follow
Math Girls 2 is a welcome edition to my kidโs Math library. The first Math Girls was obtuse, and challenging to read. However this book is pretty easy to understand and follow, at least for the first half of the book. In fact, itโs really a neat read, until the last 1/3 of the book, where it becomes complex. Still though, who said Number Theory was easy. In fact, I would argue that if you're looking for a dalliance into Number Theory, this is the perfect place to start. And if youโre a Kid with IMO aspirations, then obviously this is a must read.

Excellent!
If you like math, and especially number theory, you will love this book. It is not necessarily for high school students, but for anyone who knows and likes math, and wants an interesting perspective on different aspects of number theory. Extremely well written, and very easy to follow.

For Math Girls!
I bought this book for my 6th grade daughter. She really liked it and read previous the Math Girls book as well (plus both Manga forms). She was really excited for this one because her class discussed Fermat's Theorem and she was ahead of her class. I would recommend this book for middle school-ers who love MathCounts, Math Olympiad or AMC 8/10.

I love it
Being a math nerd myself I can't help but love this book. I actually found the first one more interesting, but this is still very good.
