Brother Mobile Color Page Scanner, DS-820W, Wi-Fi Transfer, Fast Scanning, Compact and Lightweight

Compact, light, fully featured AND a great price. It does everything I need at the office, home office and on the road.It doesn't do duplex scanning. That's OK for me. Most of the papers and receipts I scan is one sided anyway. And if I, occasionally, need to scan two sides, I'll just have to feed the other side one more time.Scans to memory card, to my desktop and to my iPad. Great for on the road scanning.Very satisfied!

Note: I am a IT support person for a large university.Condition of unit, barely used for 8-9 months. Still in the 1-year warranty period.Purchased in May, it's January and the unit won't turn on, with USB power plugged in or not. Tried a couple different cables, but otherwise not much one can do with this thing to troubleshoot with no power.Contact Brother live support, and after a very long hour and a half, of doing the exact same troubleshooting, plugging it in with various micro USB cables to prove it's not the cable, the support person said "It's the battery. We don't cover the battery. Buy another battery for $51.37 and see if that fixes it". That's a battery for a third the price we paid for the unit, and we don't even know if it will fix it, or if we can recover that cost if it doesn't. For a unit that's still under warranty. That they don't know if it's the battery or not either.We can promise, if we do buy a battery, and it doesn't fix it, this is the last product from Brother we buy. Probably will be anyway. Certainly won't be recommending them to anyone else either. Feels pretty close to a scam.

This scanner works great. It does what i need it to do and that is scan receipts and some documents. I love the ease of it, its portable and you can choose from pdf or jpeg for photos.

Yay for an affordable portable wireless scanner with a rechargeable battery! Downside: to dl pictures to mobile devices, have to get on the scanner's WiFi and then go to its ip, where the interface is a real drag, or use the even lousier app. It scans beautifully, though, and the SD card lets you do gobs at once. It's a pain to check on your scanning results, and you get no preview, so it's a very good thing it works well, so far. I preferred the ION Air Copy, which was much more user-friendly, but mine crapped out pretty fast (blew tiny screws, and streaks apparent in scans) and I wanted something more durable and robust. The Brother DS 820W has several file format export options and two quite decent resolution settings. It's not the perfect portable scanner, but if Brother gets their act together and provides a usable app, it will be hands-down the winner.

I can not say anything besides how much I love it. It's perfect in all ways. Small enough to be placed in my desk without being a bothering because of lack of space. It's fast enough and the quality is superb too. It's everything I wanted and even more, and I reccomend it a lot.

The media could not be loaded.  0 on use, value and tech support. Can’t even register my new item I’ve had for over a month because the battery will not take a charge! Brother will not send me a new battery! Seller has tried & tried to get me one. I talked to Brother and they will not send me one!BROTHER CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!AMAZON OR BROTHER OWE ME A NEW BATTERY AND FOR HEAVENS SAKES PAY AA ELECTRONIC DEALS FOR THE SECOND I GOT (same problem). AMAZIN I CALLED YOU AND TOLD YOU TO CHARGE ME FOR IT, I PAID IT YET THE SELLER HASNT GOTTEN PAID. VIDEO IS A METER SAYING THE BATTERY IS BAD!

Only had this a day so perhaps not enough time to really put it through its paces so more first impressions. Overall it works well if you forget about the WiFi side and poor app/interface software. The software ergonomics and usability are poor by todays standards. Seems almost like a hardware company with software as an afterthought.Good stuffIt scans pretty quickly and quality is good.Hardware looks good and seems solid.Simple operation if you just scan to the SD card or connect directly to PCBad stuffSoftware that comes with the scanner sucks, poor interface surprised really very basic, tried the BR receipts and gave up pretty quickly too much effort and configuration needed.Have to register to get the add-on software, its not on the CD that comes with it.Manual is overly wordy and complicated.Struggled with the WiFi could get it to connect directly and seemed (according to status LED) be connected to my router but could get the software to talk to it then. I was doing this on myMac rather than mobile or iPad, maybe that doesn't work, but that can't make sense.

Such a great buy, perfect for all of my needs. Works well for those who travel a lot, or those who don't want a big scanner to take up all their space. There are multiple settings to adjust the quality of a scan and it scans really well. You can carry it with you and scan to an SD card that comes with the scanner, or hook it up to your computer and scan directly to your computer.
