Valcom V-1094A Page Port Preamp Expander

I purchased this preamp because we upgraded our phone system from a legacy Mitel PBX to a Cisco IP system. Our paging system is Edwards Signaling, now a part of GE. We interfaced the Cisco analog output with the Edwards input using a Bogen TAM-B and this left the volume significantly lower than the previous system.I ordered this preamp from Amazon and when it arrived we installed it between the TAM-B audio output and the Edwards input. Made some test pages and adjusted the volume.The hook up is pretty simple. The preamp requires a 24V pwr supply and has two screw terminals for input and two for output. I used telephone hook up wire but any small gauge wire around 16-24 should work fine.The preamp came with a weatherproof box but the cover is not waterproof. Since the box is sealed I couldnt mount it to the plywood panel in my telcomm room and I used a standard 2X4 electrical box.If you need something to jack up the output of a Cisco system (600ohm) to a system that expects a 8 ohm input this does the job. I now have system wide volume adjustment.

Worked as stated. I was able to boost audio to a higher level without maximum pc audio out to our paging system, and no distortions.
