Good, Lighthearted Fun
It's Donnie Yen, enough said right? Well, I would have given it 5 stars but the ending is confusing. Ok I get that there's going to be a sequel but please give some meaning to the end of the movie. So, rather than the ending causing anticipation for the sequel, it had me wondering what the heck??If you're expecting to see Donnie beating up the bad guys, think again. Donnie spends more time riding atop tour buses than fighting except the scene where he fights an old woman. Donnie, we know you're aging, but when your most strenuous fight scene is with an elderly lady, your coolness rating slips big time! All in all it's a good movie for chuckles and light hearted fun.

Good remake of 1989 Iceman Cometh
Donnie Yen is at it again with a good remake of the 1989 film The Iceman Cometh, with some new plot twists (police standoffs, Japanese pirates) and the most memorable jokes ("my country has fallen!", drinking from the toilet, freezing the thugs, and puzzling the hospital staff with his age). Donnie Yen and Wang Baoqiang do excellent jobs acting, but the movie still lacks the humor and sparkle that Maggie Cheung brought to the original version.

Donnie Yen is slightly off.....
I always love Donnie Yen's movies. He always gave his best. This is a pretty one too, except the plot is a bit off:- 4 brothers frozen in time and met/battled 400 years later?? The kung fu choreography is well put together though, and all 4 guys are showing off their fighting styles. But in the end, I have to admit I was slightly lost.

and I named my son after this guy.
he looked stupid, acted stupid, sounded stupid. not a donnie yen movie.

DOUBLE FEATURE TIME
This nonsensical karate movie is a throwback to the 1970s Times Square double feature karate movies the high-flying actors don't miss a beat, so you won't get freaked out by the Oriental writing on the DVD cover case this movie can be watched with English sub-titles. This is the kind of movie where you turn off your brain and just enjoy the action, there are two golden(excuse the pun) scenes in this movie that involve one of the main characters relieving himself of his body waste, in the very first scene you see his release of #1 and later on you'll see his release of #2, I got a good laugh out of that scene, sit back relax and enjoy this action packed DVD movie.

Dissapointing mix of comedy and action that sadly doesn't work.
Being a huge fan of Asian cinema and martial arts films old school and new, and a Donnie Yen fan I was left dissapointed in this one. It starts off with little explanation, I almost thought I had accidently pressed fast forward, then when it does kick in I thought great but then it doesn't seem to go anywhere. It's mix of comedy and action didn't work for me, and oddly there's little action and fight scenes, although the one at end is great. But then it just ends very abruptly and I was left thinking is that it? Donnie Yen is always great value though and he saves it. My main issue is that the leading lady isn't that likeable, and the original The Iceman Cometh with Yuen Biao and Maggie Cheung is far better. Dissapointing.

Missed opportunity.
Is it a comedy or not? This movie would have been far superior if it had been approached as a serious subject, as it has great potential. There are some good fight sequences. With one in particular. Set on a bridge , the orchestration is amazing. The film is let down by its attempt at humour - it spoils it. The ending is just wierd, leaving a feeling of - is that it?Is it worth the money? = yes. Will I watch it again? = No.Not one of Donnie Yens best. RJC.

Don't bother.
Absolute garbage, I managed no more than ten minutes before I had to turn it off. Even the sound dubbing wasn't up to scratch. A real disappointment. After 5 minutes my wife and daughter were reaching for their Ipads such was the entertainment value. Save the cash and use it for something more worthwhile.

Defrosted soldiers continue their struggle
This film appears to be a re-imaging (to use the current phraseology) of the 1989 film the Iceman Cometh in which Chinese soldiers from the Ming Dynasty are frozen for 400 years and subsequently defrosted to renew their struggle whilst coming to terms with their new surroundings.
