Manipulative Kit for Mathematics for Elementary Teachers 9th Edition

I bought this at the last minute for my college class and the package arrived within two days. All the pieces were there ready to be punched out! Very pleased with this product.

It was a great product, but it just wasn't for me. I got the ones that my university sells instead.

Everything was there. It was in perfect condition and have been able to use it during every class. Since I am in school to become a teacher I can use it with my future class as well!

Pros: QuantityCons: Cost!, Quality, Necessity, StorageBasics: In the interest of full disclosure, I will openly admit that I did first purchase this manipulative kit about two years ago, during the spring semester of my Freshman year in college to be exact. However, despite this fact I do not think that this piece of information make me ineligible in any way whatsoever to give this product a great review? Why? Because regardless of when I first used it does not change the quality of service I received from it. What quality of service is that? Well, it isn’t so cut and dry as I have mixed feelings about this product overall. At first I thought that I needed this product because I was taking a required math course at my college, which I needed to graduate with a teacher certificate, and in the past math classes had not boded well for me. I had taken another math course earlier in that year, that did not relate to this course in particular, but was required to graduate in general, and every minute of it was absolutely horrible. In the simplest words, it did not go well. At all. Because of this I was nervous about the idea of taking another college math class, and did not know what to expect from any other courses that I would have to face in the coming years. I general fact about me is that I am a very visual learner, so I figured having this manipulative kit (which would give me the chance to work with different pieces right in front of me) would make getting through this class more bearable.More Information: The kit was good, and was delivered to me in great condition- however I hardly ever used it. The kit was not required by my classroom professor, therefore we never really used it in her class and when we did what we needed was provided by her. I acknowledge that this was a personal oversight, and should not and will not affect the quality of this review. I just learned in this moment that you should not act rashly when making a purchase, especially if you are in college and money is a little bit on the rarer side. So before you purchase, do make sure you take a second and do the research. The kit was helpful in a few different aspects, but for the most part it wasn’t the best thing I have ever purchased. The quality of the product however is a completely different story, and is also where I am basing the amount of stars that this product gets off of. The objects within the kit were mostly paper based, and so therefore pretty easy to reproduce if need be, cancelling out the original need for the kit in the first place. There were also a lot of really tiny pieces that could easily get lost, so if you do choose to purchase this you should keep that in mind. Overall, there is nothing wrong with the product at all. It served its duty honorably, however was it actually needed? Not in my opinion.Conclusion: Like I said earlier, this is a good enough product for what it is used for. Would I buy it again? No way! Why not? Because, money is tight and I just didn’t use it. If I didn’t buy it but was taking a class or using the book would I be OK? Heck yes! Most of the activities in the accompanying textbook did not call for the kit at all, and when it did it usually explained what exactly you would need! So, like I said earlier- good product, but wholly unneeded. Also, I do not value this product at anything higher that ten or fifteen dollars... anything more- I would skip it, but that's just me.
