Shelta Raptor V2

Good hat, poor shipping.
I ordered a size M/L based on Shelta’s sizing chart on their website compared to the measurement of my grape. Way, way too small.Compared to so many other products ordered from Amazon, or any other modern website on earth, Shelta uses USPS First Class for shipping and it takes a few days, same if you have to return one of their hats. So, your refund doesn’t get processed for quite a few days if you have an issue. Seems like they could spring for at least Priority Mail for a $75 nylon hat. Hat seemed good enough for me to reorder though.I’ve always worn boonie’s. I wore one in the military for years, and I wear one everyday at work now. I’ve gone through quite a few, with the most durable/functional being the US made military issue versions. That said, the military issue boonies could’ve always used a little more ventilation and a bit lighter material. I’ve had OR, Patagonia, Costa, Arcteryx, Proper, and a few others. The Shelta hat looked and felt well made compared to the others, was light weight, and looked well ventilated. I wound up reordering it a size bigger so I could have another crack at it. I’ll know within 2-3days if it’s going to be a good one (once it travels 40 days and 40 nights via snail mail from California to Ohio).Shelta, if your product functions as good as it looks, I’ll order a couple more. One thing, get your shipping together. This time around my tracking stayed with a “shipping label printed” for two days before it was even dropped off at the PO to make its long and arduous journey across the entirety of the great USA via First Class Mail. $3 shipping for a $75 hat with a week of travel time is lame.

Comfortable, brim stays put when sailing
Fit as advertised. With the available adjustment, fit perfectly. Despite gusty day while sailing, the brim stayed put.

Great hat for on/in water & hot days
Front brim is baseball-cap sized and very durable. doesn’t get soft or bend when wet. Doesn’t flop in the wind, even on a ski boat going 35mph. This model has the narrower side and rear brim, which give decent ear protection and moderate neck protection, depending heavily on sun angle. If you pair it with the neck gaiter/sleeve it would be total coverage.I run pretty hot, and at 105 in strong sun, this hat doesn’t get nearly as hot as my Tilley.

I love this hat
This is a very well designed and manufactured hat. I love the stiff brim in front, I can put an Insta360 Go 2 camera mount on it. It keeps my poncho hood out out of my face. The strap has 3 different configurations or can be removed and stored in the little pocket on the hat. It's a lot of money for a hat, but it's the best hiking hat I've ever owned.

BUY THIS HAT! You will not believe how breathable and amazingly cool it really is!
I bought this for my bestfriend, who gets heat exaughstion really easily since he got heatstroke as a kid. He has to be careful of overheating and dramatic changes in Temps, and does all the yardwork outside. This hat has saved his summer, and our yard! He can work in 113 degree weather, so we found this summer! The normal temp is about 98-105 in the summer of Central washington, and as long as there is a breeze, with this hat, My roommate can now mow, water, trim, and occasionally ally work on the ants in one day, rather than having to take an hour or 2 to cool off between, cause it really is lightweight, and the wind really does go through it, as if you aren't wearing anything. The brim really stays up, and it breathes even in still weather. This hat is a miracle.

85-90 degrees and humid, this hat will keep you cool
always seems like a choice between good protection from the sun and function. A good baseball cap can breathe, but doesn't offer much in the way of sun protection... most other "big" hats I've tried are floppy and/or hot. This has past the test in 85-90 degree weather close to 90% humidity. Sweat was actually dripping off the brim of the hat, but the hat itself stayed relatively dry and cool. It was large enough to offer great protection, but it didn't get in the way while I worked. Really pleased... I found the sizing to be off... I measured and landed squarely in the "small" which I found surprising... I tend to be "medium". My first hat... the small... was painfully tight. I ordered a medium and it fits perfectly without tightening the cinch strap. I guess in high winds I might need to tighten it... but it was comfortable to wear for 8+ hours in really miserable conditions.
